"Appropriate Communication Strategies among Nurses" is an engrossing example of a paper on care.

Evidence-based practice is a holistic system focused on patient outcomes, and this method uses medical decision-making through the use of external evidence, practitioners' expertise, and the patient's preference. The purpose of this assignment is to determine the suitable research databases and appropriate communication strategies among practitioners in a health care facility to enhance patient-oriented health care.

Communication and Collaboration among nurses

Communication among nurses is an essential aspect of an overall nurse job, and it allows the nurses and the charge nurse to work together to take care of their patients. A good practice among nurses is the utilization of open communication. This allows each person to express their knowledge and opinions persuasively and transparently (Tang, Chan, Zhou & Liaw, 2013). The charge nurse can aid the new nurse in locating the materials needed to understand the diagnosis and treatment options that are best suited for the patient. A good start and approach to this type of situation would be to ask the nurse what he or she knows about the diagnosis, and then refer them to the internet databases, policy procedure guides, and official policies(Tang, Chan, Zhou & Liaw, 2013).

Location of resources

One of the best places to look for research information in the hospital is by going to the computer lab and researching the topic of choice. The second area that would be a great resource is the hospital's online policies procedures, and guidelines. Hospitals have databases in which you can look up and print out educational pamphlets for the patient's perusal after they are discharged because they may need more information on diagnosis or treatments. I would assist the new nurse in locating the different areas of research, including how to research any given database. I will show them where the computer lab is, familiarize him/her on how to use search engines, and advise him/her on how to avoid confusion when looking for information. I would also show them that the policy guideline and information books are usually in the break room and or behind a nurse’s station.

Five Sources for information

  • CINAHL- is an online database that would be useful because you can search for articles about Autism while narrowing the criteria to just peer-reviewed articles within the last five years (Glanville, Dooley, Wisniewski, Foxlee & Noel‐Storr, 2019).
  • PubMed- is an excellent resource for researching information on a topic well you can also use it to narrow down one's search to find peer-reviewed articles that were published within the last five years (Mahobia, Vyas & Deshmukh, 2019).
  • Hospital Research Books- Most hospitals generally have an area with research books where one could go to look up information on a disease process.
  • National Center for Biotechnology Information- is a database that has peer-reviewed research articles, used to study the latest information regarding diagnosis and find evidence-based practice articles to keep one up to date on the information at hand (Sayers, Barrett, Benson, Bolton, Bryant Canese & Feolo, 2010).
  • Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM5)- is a manual that lists codes, diagnoses, and overall information and treatments as well as signs and symptoms for psychological disorders. This is a wonderful guide for primary and in-depth information for healthcare professionals to get a better understanding (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM–5), 2019).
