Having been on the road of parenthood I knew how the kid’s parents would feel. For them it would be worse than facing an earthquake or a tsunami or any other calamity. It would break the castle in the air which parents build for their children. Since Critics, as in Principles of Criminology, argue against the control theory- “that the attachment to parents and association with delinquent friends were significantly related to delinquency.” This theory somehow intimidates me. A painful picture of my son taking drugs pops into my mind.

The very picture makes my body shiver. I promise myself that this would never happen. I would warn my son of the dangers of drug abuse before hand. I would ask work as a volunteer in rehabilitation center. So that he could find out that the perils of drug misuse far outweigh its apparent benefits. I would also tell my son of the incident. Ensuring that he would not disclose this to somebody else rather help his friend recover.For it’s during the rainy days that your friend becomes your umbrella.

However I would not approach the police and send the youth to jail. As according to Patrick Wilson:” prison makes people more likely to offend.” According to Socialist Worker Online (1992) In the opinion of Crispin Truman, director of the Revolving Doors Agency, says, "A significant number of vulnerable people with mental health, drug, alcohol and housing problems end up in the criminal justice system every year. Many are not getting help from health or social care agencies." .
