Child birth is one of the most wonderful experiences that a female can ever experience in her life. Females tend to have different perceptions of child birth because of the prevalent ambiguities that are present due to social and physical factors. Majority of the women understand that childbirth is excruciating and painful. However, many women often feel that it symbolizes their womanhood and their strength. For most women, the attitudes towards childbirth seem to be a scary matter. One woman in the class discussed her fears as she stated, “Childbirth always scared me. To make matters worse, the whole idea of getting an epidural really scared me. I mean, the fact that a huge needle will be injected in my spine was really daunting. However, it was good to understand that it would have facilitated my childbirth and I was determined to use it only if I needed it. I also have bad feeling that I might have to undergo C-section. When it came to actually delivering the baby, I did not have time to take the epidural. However, the childbirth itself was painful.” Consequently, another female had a different opinion as she stated, “I had a very easy labor. The pain was bearable and I delivered without any complication. I was induced to take an epidural because everyone said it was going to be awful. I really wanted an unmedicated birth but I felt that I needed to take precautions with my first birth.” 3. Explore www.lamaze.org and find the content for pregnant women. Anthropology of Childbirth: Where, How and Why

The Latin term cum-mater and the Spanish and Portuguese term comadre, have the same meaning: with woman (Coalition for improving maternity services, n.d). Midwives have been part of the human experience as long as we know. In earlier times, a midwife didn’t receive formal education to assist birth.
For example, the birthing process renders the woman in labor a passive agent that her dependency makes her a convenient target of subjugation especially in deeply male-dominated cultures. The process can also reflect the familial relationships or how it fosters closer and extended kinship.

The total and primary cesarean rate showed a decrease between 1989 and 1996 and an increase between 1996 and 2003 in the United States.
Hence it is the amount of data that they have gathered and the facts themselves that influence their thinking.
Many are of the opinion that VBAC trial of labour can be thought of only when there has been one low side to side scar c section , or in case of more than one caesarean but also accompanied by previous vaginal delivery.
It is perhaps so important that it the treatment of women’s health is a ‘reflection of the total culture’ (Kay, 1982, pvii) as they are a reflection of so many aspects of the society; equality, religion, leadership
These factors are making Parents more skeptical if investing this much money is even worth it. Most of the times in public schools the tuition fee is driven from the rising expenditures on the administrators, student support services and
