Reaching a Position of Chief Radiologic Technologist My career plan will take exactly five years to reach a position of chief Radiologic Technologist and or Director of Radiology. However, before I attain the position there is a lot to do within the five years in order to accomplish this goal. The five-year plan to be the chief Radiologic Technologist is as discussed below: Decision commitment I am going to pursue a career in Radiology Technologist because I enjoy and I have talent in radiologic technology. I have been a radiology technologist for the last five years, and I have found that my personality is one that finds satisfaction through serving others in the field of Radiology Technology. I plan to become a chief Radiologic Technologist by the next five years, that is, in 2018. Interim goals For me to reach the set goal, there are interim goals I need to achieve to be well equipped and qualified for the position. I have listed these interim goals based on the order I need to achieve from the first to the last. First, is to introduce skill development program within my department. This will ensure that employees are well trained and have the ability and confidence to do their jobs effectively and efficiently. The other benefit for introducing the program is that the senior officers in my department will train me together with other employees on the skills that are appropriate to become an effective leader in Radiologic technology. This will give the skills and outlook of what shall be required of me when I get the position. The second interim goal is to complete my Bachelor Degree in Radiology technology by 2016. This is a requirement for one to take any managerial position within the Radiologic Technology. The third goal is to obtain a managerial position in Diagnostic Medical Imaging department. I will be a manager in this department for two years after, which I will move to the next goal. The managerial position will assist me in assuming more role and responsibility in my department to prepare me for the Chief of Radiologist Technologist by the end of the year 2018. In doing this, it is my hope that I will be showing to the management my ability to assume higher roles in the department and the organization as a whole. Lastly, I will resume the chief executive position where I will remain until I create the next resolution. To begin with, the first interim goal, introduction of skill development program, requires thorough research into the type of the training and the equipment appropriate to achieve the skill development goals within the department and research into other departments of the radiologic technology and other organizations that have successfully implemented such trainings in their departments. It will also require a significant amount of financial resources as the department will need radiologic equipment to conduct such trainings successfully. The second interim, the completion of a bachelor degree, will require financial resources to pay for the school and other costs during my study period and a good amount of time to complete the coursework. While the last two interim goals, will require a lot of time as they require good preparation in terms of skills and knowledge to achieve. I will take time to prepare to assume high roles in the department and the whole organization as a manager, and lastly, as the chief Radiologic Technologist. Assurance The plans that I have prepared to give assurance to the career plan are the use of the self-accountability, use of the friends and the family members. The plans laid down are to be monitored regularly, and any deviation from the set goals has to be accounted for appropriately. I will always be the first person to monitor and check the progress of my career goals every time of the day. I will also make myself accountable by sharing the goals with my trusted friends and the family who will also assist in ensuring that the set goals are met and in case of any deviation a corrective measure is taken appropriately. The interim goals are set to be achieved after a period of one year in a progressive manner for the next five years. Therefore, the other method to be used to monitor and check for reasonableness from time to time is to mark the goals that have already been achieved. This will assist in measuring the success of the set goal and create more focus on the goals ahead. Lastly, I will ensure that I always reassess my goals to ensure that they are still reasonable to help me achieve the main goal of becoming the chief Radiology Technologist and make any changes where appropriate. Success criteria The plan is set such that every given period of one year should be used as a measure of success of the plan. The interim goals are the control measures that will show me the progress of the laid down plan. Each interim goal has a specific period, which they are to be completed. When the set period passes before the interim goal is met, it will show me that I need to revisit my plan. In the interim goals that require certification, academic results will show the progress of these set goals. The promotions that I will get from time to time as I climb the ladder will also indicate the progress in my career plan, and in case there are no such changes in rank positions, I need to reevaluate or revisit the plan and make any needed corrections. My family and friends will also assist in evaluating the progress of the plan and will inform me without any hesitant whether I am on target or not. Expected Outcome When this set goal is achieved within the five years, I will take some time to learn more about the job. This will equip me with the managerial perspective of the chief executive of the Radiologic Technology as I stabilize in the field. Thereafter I will set a goal to open my own hospital in London to offer services in Radiologic Technology and to train those who would wish to study the course. I plan to be my own chief executive when the hospital is established until I reach retirement age. Meanwhile, I will continue to cherish my education as I do a thorough research in the area of Radiology Technology and any new way to give the services to the clients, which are better and cost less.
