 SELF-ASSESSMENT Introduction This assessment essay is an analysis of the skills acquired in the course of education and relation to the various professional aspects. The purpose of this paper is to measure the performance and its usefulness. It is intended to evaluate my achievement as a whole. In this case, it assists in developing individual’s identity. The paper focuses on my own self-assessment and competence level of my skills that I have acquired over the years. They include skill analysis as communication, data analysis, working with others, improving own learning and performance as well as technical skills. Communication skills The aspects of communication start with the ability to listen then followed by understanding. The aspect of hearing is important in the case of communication as the exchange of message from the sender through a media to the receiver. Listening In the course of my study, I have learned how to listen to others. The listening skill is a unique state and capability that a person develops over time. The study has helped me to keep on building this skill since it requires one to listen to the instructor carefully in order to learn and understand the course work. These techniques enable me to do the same to my classmates as well as other people. In relation to this it is possible for me to say that the study has assisted me to improve on this set of skill since listening is classified into various categories, it has enabled med to gain both the passive and active listening. Understanding and decoding the message Understanding a message is an important skill because the message requires an analysis to identify its real meaning and elaboration. In this case, in order for one to understand better an individual must learn the signs. Responding These are also classified to be part of communication where any response is identified and measured according to the question asked. This skill develops slowly overtime. In all profession, the art of proper communication is important in relation to the consumers, clients and all the employees. Therefore, I have acquired relevant skills adequate to response especially during discussions or question time. Analysis of data Data analysis applies to the skills needed for systematic application of statistical knowledge in describing and illustrating collected data. This has helped me to develop skills needed to collect data, describe the data, illustrate, recap and evaluate the same data. Analyzing data is an essential skill that I am proud off through my course of study and still it will remain to be paramount in other sphere of my life as an individual. It used to be difficult before but overtime it has now become easier. In the course of the study, I have undertaken several exercises and projects. They have been of assistant in developing the data analysis skills. The aspect of data analysis initiates methods of gathering data. I have developed the aspect of concurrent data collection methods and appropriate analyzing. It means that issues related to questionnaires development and administration, interviews and analyzing research materials has become simpler. I can therefore say vividly that issues related to data biasness will never arise with me. In order to attain adequate data analysis skills, it requires a lot of practice and exercise. In the course of the study, I have taken many of the means to assist me in data analysis. I could say that I am conversant with the following aspects that are crucial for data analysis. Firstly, the ability to apply and follow acceptable norms for the discipline in relation to the data analysis, Secondly, I am now in a position to provide honestly and accurate data analysis for correct outcomes. Thirdly, I have the ability to establish a standard of acceptability for the statistical significance as an aspect of data analysis, it is important to possess the ability to develop correct objectives in relation to data analysis. It also involves the ability to meet the set objectives of the data analysis. Lastly, the ability to provide accurate and honest analysis which does not learn on either side of the research and eliminate statistical error, these comprises accurate statistics so as one does not alter the data, miss data or exclude outlier data. The qualities are developed over time with respect to exercise and undertaking various projects. Proper and correct data collection skills and techniques are important towards complimenting data analysis. It is an important aspect because it entails the ability to present the data analyzed in a way that a person of low skill would be able to understand its meaning. Working with others Working with others is part of the course because it is a requirement that enable an individual to carry out group tasks. Before undertaking the course, I was a poor group member and a poor performer in relation to others. However, throughout the course, I have developed an important quality and skill that is has enabled me to work with and cooperate with others well. I have learned that, in order to attain the ability to work with others a person requires to be able to be a good listener. It means having become a good listener I have developed the following qualities like honesty, a quality that binds people working together. For instance, honest at working environment make it possible for workers to work at working at the standard pace, completing the tasks on time and not failing to attend the groups or being late as well as appropriate attitude. I have developed a good state of mind in relation to the tasks, for example, good posture, respecting the other members, being calm, and doing a good job as tasks demands (Mulle 2012). Before the beginning of the year, I had no willingness to work hard, but currently, I have the willing to carry out tasks and make a difference. As identified, ability to work with others begins with an individual being a good worker. I have also developed the following skills that are appropriate and compliment the ability to work with others like attaining good accuracy in the work, good hygiene, attendance and being a team player. Therefore, in the course of my study, I have attained skills and qualities that will enable me to be efficient in any work environment. In that, I have the ability to communicate well, self-confident, leadership skills and appropriate interpersonal skills. I have also developed a conflict resolution skill which enables me to handle conflict that was a major challenge before. Am able to work under pressure and at the same time meet the deadlines, It has been accelerated by the gaining of knowledge that success entails the ability to meet the personal and organizational goals at all costs. In relation to this, I work toward winning, tries to improve and be the best in the task at hand. Improving own learning and performance The qualities identified above aim at improving learning and performance. Before taking the course, I was a poor performer. I used to avoid responsibilities and fear tasks. However, the projects undertaken have contributed greatly towards improving my ability to learn and perform. In relation to this, I have learned that it entails hard work and sacrifice. I could, therefore, say that, I had the potential both utilized to the extent I have undertaken and other in relation to the tasks I will undertake if it comes along. I had no appropriate skills in such cases as tasks and projects analysis, plan development and implementation, time planning, and proper use. I have gained these skills in relation to the undertaking of the various projects. I have abandoned such issues as the bad company as a way and an important step towards performance improvement. In relation to the course work, at the beginning of the course my assignment results were usually low. Eventually, the grades have improved. It is as a result of the study. Technical skills development Some of the Technical skills development I have acquired includes the ability to bend stress, study and identify the soil formation processes. One of the aspects of the engineering analysis is that it also involves teamwork. As a result, the project of the engineering analysis has improved me to work with groups and allows idea creation. The other aspect that has been significant in skills development is a student design agency. The student design agency has enabled me to improve the skills in working with other students. At this level, I can manage a project, event and also come up with an idea that will lead to good results. Conclusion The course has enabled me to develop different skills in various fields as identified. The paper has elaborated the skills that I have developed and explained their importance to various fields. A self-assessment has been identified as an important step towards evaluating whether one is making progress in various fields and aspects of life. Therefore, the paper has identified such fields as the communication skills, data analysis skills, teamwork and working with others, improved performance and the technical skills development.
