Remember all things are possible for those who believe” (Gail Devers) After living in the United States for the past eight years, I have finally received my U.S citizenship and can now fulfill my childhood dream of studying dentistry and pursuing my career in this field. After conducting a thorough and an exhaustive research of universities throughout the country, I have at last determined that the University of Texas at Austin provides me with the best opportunity to acquire an undergraduate degree with a major in Pre-Dentistry. My aim is to apply for the school of dentistry at University of Texas at San Antonio after the successful completion of my undergraduate courses. Due to my life experiences especially those growing up in Venezuela, I intend to use my skills of dentistry to help others in need such as children through out Latin America that can’t afford dental care. Dentistry is a profession that can actually enhance the quality of the lives of many people and is an occupation which permits a vast amount of scientific application besides the patient’s treatment and will give me the opportunity to utilize my manual ability. I believe that the profession of dentistry is also an ever increasing sector which offers never-ending prospects for further learning and specialization, while simultaneously giving a safe, rewarding and a meaningful career. I believe that a dentist requires being an extremely skilled psychologist, a physician, a business administrator, but on top of all an organizer and a good communicator. During the past years I have studies as well as worked. I have operated as a business administrator in addition to being a coordinator for a major Speakers Bureau and have also volunteered my services in a small business dedicated to providing service to the military. While coping with both these things simultaneously I have still managed to maintain excellent grades but have decided to be a full-time student in order to complete my undergraduate degree on time. Due to this experience, I have discovered that Dentistry just doesn’t revolve around the Dentist, but actually is an occupation supported by the talent of multi-disciplined people operating in thoroughly assembled teams. Simply with such a tactic can individual offer skillful, knowledgeable and safe health assistance for the community. My goal is to graduate from dental school in eight years from admission from University of Texas at Austin. Although I am thirty years old I believe I will still be relatively younger to grow in my career and accomplish my goals of helping others and have a family of my own. I further intend to complete my specialization in Orthodontics and set up a foundation that will allow me to serve the mankind. I believe that I own the endurance, dedication and physical skillfulness, in addition to the natural understanding and sociability that this line of work needs in order to improve and uphold the oral wellbeing of patients. Additionally, I have the inventiveness to reason on my own in problem-solving circumstances. I am positive that I will become accustomed to the demands of the course as I function in a good way under stress and am at all times ready to conquer challenges. Academically, I have continuously worked intensely and accomplished highly because of self-motivation. I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead of me in the degree of dentistry. Most of the times, diseases show their first warning indication in the type of oral troubles so the service provided by the dentists in assisting people to maintain their physical wellbeing is an extremely valuable and helpful one. It is a shame that a lot of Americans even now lack access to fundamental oral health treatment. Adults and kids miss out on their sleep, education and employment because of untreated dental infections or diseases. They cant have a meal as it should be and fail to smile or enjoy life. I desire to build a foundation and try to raise consciousness and work out solutions so a lot of people can be given dental care. Dentists lead majority of these hard work, but they can not accomplish it alone. All of us must stake in this problem.
