Self-Assessment: The Anthropology of Latin America and the Caribbean reflection paper The books first chapter shows why it is necessary to study Latins America anthropology and the Caribbean. It is critical to study this anthropology in order to understand the culture of people in these places and also appreciate their way of life. Other people from various continents of the world will appreciate this book since it offers a new perspective of the Latin Americans that other people may not know.

The chapter can inform potential tourists what to expect when they visit Latin America. It is important to study the history of people, their languages, landscapes and culture. Understanding people and their culture help people to appreciate the culture. The book provides the history of the Latin Americans, their landscapes, migration and cities, and the current condition of that region (Sanabria 12). The information provided by the book is essential to compare Latin America’s past and current life.

As a student, the book will help me know the successes and challenges the Latin Americans encountered, and how to face the future. The history of America is very long. What America is now is very different from the America of a century ago. The modern America is very developed. The book paints a picture of Latin America from the past to the modern picture. The book helps to trace the history of the Latin Americans, the development it has made, and the expectation of the future. The information provided opens people’s eyes concerning Latin Americans.

The book offers some good lessons on what countries or individuals ought to do in order to face their challenges. As an individual, I learn that challenges exist in order to be conquered by people and countries. When an individual or country has planned well, when a country has a clear vision, it is a matter of time before the realization of the goals and objectives. The Latin America has developed since it values its culture and appreciates good leadership. Great leadership is a necessary ingredient if a country is to spur development (Sanabria 120).

The people must be ready to work hard in order to ensure that the country grows in terms of social, economic and political facets. The Europeans played an important role in the process of civilization of the Latin Americans. The Latin Americans borrowed some cultures from the Europeans, and so did the Europeans. It might explain why Latin Americans have a good relationship with the Europeans. The book describes the impact of globalization in Latin America. Latin America has obtained many benefits from globalization.

Globalization has linked Latin Americans to the rest of the world. The topic is of relevance to students and any reader of history. As a person, I look forward to benefiting from globalization. Globalization allows an individual to trade and work in any place in the world. The improvement in communication infrastructure has helped to boost globalization (Sanabria 298). The internet is one critical invention that has helped people to interact on a need basis. The tourism industry benefits a great deal because of globalization.

Nations have entered into trade agreements to support their countries export. Many countries have faced civil war, while other countries have had diplomatic wrangles. It should be noted that no single development can be realized if countries keep fighting. Peace and reconciliations organizations must work extra hard to ensure there is peace and stability.
