Extract of sample "The Prospects of Genetic Engineering"

After conducting the research, the study analyses the potential benefits of genetic engineering for phytosequestration. The authors estimate the possible use of plant genetic engineering in phytosequestration by 2050 to be quite significant some of the impacts of genetic engineering being maximized photosynthesis, fossil fuel offset, and increased carbon allocation to roots, among others (Jansson et al. 689). The result of their estimation is illustrated in figure 3. The study results agree with the conclusion, considering that the authors have successfully quantified the benefits of various plant engineering strategies to phytosequestration.

Even though a hypothesis test has not been conducted, the statistics used in the study are realistic and valid, especially considering that they have been drawn from reputable sources. The research hypothesis has not been statistically tested, considering that chi-square, t-test, or z-tests, among other established testing criteria, have not been applied in the study. The researchers, however, are quick to state that their objective is not to test their hypothesis statistically but to stimulate further discussion and research on the subject (694).
