Explanation of the Stock Choices My choice for Microsoft, Dell computers, and Apple Inc is because of the looming stock split for the shareholders. The companies were to make a stock split up of 2-in-1, a move that will see all the shareholders having twice their original shares in the company. The move to spilt the stock will in the near future increase the value of the stock. This will be beneficial to those who may want to sell their shares after the spilt. For the Toyota Company, I made the choice following the companies successive companies increase in the profit margin, the shares of the company has been rated blue chips in the recent past. Considering its half a decade performance, they have consistently realized exponential growth, this builds confidence onto the prospective shareholders on the future of the company (MarketWatch, 2012). For the Coca Cola, Procter and Gamble, and McDonald, the company’s shares were nearing their 52-week low. Buying shares at this time is anticipated on value play and the expectation of the shares values to rise in the near future. This is a speculation based on a strategy to buy and acquire shares when they rate low. The choice for IBM was reached by the fact that the company’s range of the 52-week low and high showed no much disparity and that this was a proof the company had stable shares that do not experiences prices fluctuation. The shares of the company do not fluctuate in prices. VI. Gains on the portfolio In the portfolio, I gained $ 5,000 this was occasioned by the company’s good performance and more investors wanted to have shares with the company. The pressure from the investors to have shares with this companies following their books of account necessitated the shares prices to go up. The shares prices went up than the normal prices they were bought. The market value of the shares went higher that the par value hence the difference constituted the gain.
