s Key Skills Technology Appreciation In the contemporary society, globalization necessitates the importance of businesses to adopt new approaches to conduct business. In effect, business managers who have crucial skills that enhanced seamless operations, recorded growth in their business. One such skill that ensures competitiveness of business managers in the global world is technology appreciation skills. First, experts identify the importance of technology in connecting the business to the external environment through publicity, public relations, customer relations, and other key components in business that are supported by technology (Carroll and Buchholtz 270). In line with this, businesses identify the essential role that technology plays to connect the business with the world and help the business network with its customers through platforms that technology provides. Technology helps a business organization integrate systems that enhanced operations in a business (Baskerville 317). In this regard, businesses are able to upgrade, replace, and add new technology that support systems that help a business carry out its operations in a manner that promoted effectiveness and efficiency in business. While technology appreciation skills are fundamental in managing successful businesses, it is important to ensure that business executives developed these skills in an attempt to remain competitive in the contemporary society. For instance, it is evident that the world witnesses a situation whereby new technological innovations are the order of the day with systems continually changing every day. In effect, it is important for business executives with technology appreciation skills to understand the changes in technology and adopt the new technology in order to ensure that their business organizations incorporated new systems that were efficient. On the other hand, business executives can improve their technology appreciation skills by joining training programs that enhanced their capacity in using new technologies and integrating the technology in their business systems. Problem solving numeracy Velde identifies the importance of numeracy skills in helping individuals to understand fundamental computations in their life (69). In this case, numeracy skills are a crucial aspect of business since mathematical concepts are applicable in practical situations that help an individual to develop estimates in business that enhance the business’ ability to make profits. On the other hand, problem solving skills are essential in enhancing the ability of business people to think critically and analyze situations while providing their solutions (Velde 69). In line with this, it is essential to point out that problem solving numeracy skills in business are essential in carrying out an analysis of business estimates that affect the performance of a business and develop solutions based on the analysis. In addition, these skills are crucial in business forecasting since they help a business executive to interpret graphs, charts, and data that help a business make projections that affect their business (Velde 69). Business forecasting is important in decision-making. Business executives develop problem solving numeracy skills that help them to think critically, to analyze challenging situations in a business, and make decisions based on critical thinking and effective analysis. Problem solving numeracy skills require to be developed in order to increase a business executive’s competency. In this case, it is important for business executives to engage their brains continually by using mathematical ideas and techniques in order to develop their skills. In addition, working together in teams helps an individual gain concepts and skills from other members of staff in order to ensure that they developed their skills. In a knowledge-based economy, business executives should focus on learning skills and acquiring knowledge that focused on analyzing business situations and develop solutions. In this case, developing this skill should be focused on the transferability of these skills to the business environment. Commercial awareness It is important for business executives to understand how their actions in business affect the organization’s financial position, its ability to compete, and its ability to perform in the marketplace, which underlines the concept of commercial awareness (MTD Training 9). On the other hand, commercial awareness may involve a business’ understanding of its competitors, employers and key business issues that affect the performance of the business in the industry. Commercial awareness in business is used in different approaches. Fundamentally, it is important for business executives to identify trends in their industry and their effect on the performance of their business. In this case, the business will develop measures that address any issues that were not consistent with the performance of the business in the contemporary society. Through research, a business organization shows motivation to implement a new approach to business that was consistent with the current trends in business. In addition, commercial awareness skills helps a business integrate strategic business decisions within its system since the business will be analyzing trends, market performances in the industry, and interpreting issues in the industry that promoted the implementation of decisions that enhanced the profitability of a business. Importantly, strategic management will be effective in ensuring that an organization maintained a competitive edge in the industry of its operations. Commercial awareness skills can be developed using different approaches. OECD identifies informal networking events as an important approach to develop these skills since a business gains from other businesses in the same industry through networking (69). On the other hand, development programs that are developed by experts in different fields and industries are important in ensuring that a business learned commercial awareness skills. Importantly, businesses should enhance team work since team members share different insights, knowledge, and skills that help an individual develop these skills (OECD 69). Team player A business succeeds in incidents whereby management promoted team work. In this case, it is evident that the collective efforts of each player are essential in ensuring that a business achieved its objective. In the absence of team play, each member of staff works to achieve objectives that are not in line with the business mission and objective. Team players are vital in enhancing fast response to issues that affect a business (Guffey and Loewy 41). In this case, businesses are required to respond to issues that affect the business’ performance in an urgent manner that solved problems, which requires quick decision making from team members. On the other hand, businesses engage in team play in order to increase the productivity of a business. In this regard, team players easily identify solutions and opportunities that improve the performance of a business due to their proximity to the customers. In addition, team players are essential in enhancing the change process of an organization by ensuring less resistance since each member of staff will have an input in the decision making process, which promotes less aggression to change. Team players are integrated in a business system in order to improve the morale of employees. In this case, team play improves personal satisfaction and enhances the morale of employees since they participate in the decision making process. Developing team play skills involves various approaches. First, it is beneficial for a business to build confidence and trust by encouraging members to focus on how other people perceive them and act in a manner that was consistent by fulfilling promises (Guffey and Loewy 42). In addition, establishment of the responsibility of every individual is crucial in making rules of engagement within an organization and promote team play. Importantly, a business should ensure that members of staff worked out procedures that helped team bonding and building, goal setting, and achievement of the organization’s objectives.
