The proposed system Tesco Training Management System (TTMS) will gather, organize, maintain and report the training information of all employees who underwent a course of study. Moreover, the system will keep a complete catalog of all the available instructors and along with their concerned subject specialties. The required information will be collected from all possible sources including the higher management, existing system, staff operating the existing system of information, users including employees and instructors.

However the quality of a good requirement engineer, as illustrated by Young (2004, p.37), “Be a good listener, communicator and writer” will prevail. This can be achieved by reducing the “vagueness of the original requirement document.” (Paech & Craig, 2008, p. 25). Presently, Tesco is maintaining the training information on Microsoft Excel which is does not provide adequate querying capabilities required to provide perceived decision support to the higher management. The proposed Tesco Training Management System (TTMS) will cover all functionalities of the present system and will digitize them comprehensively to provide adequate decision support.

The process adopted here to collect information from the users of the existing system was susceptible to errors because the demonstrations were not accurate and sometime the user was unable to perform a required task in the existing system. . However, “It is possible to implement each requirement within the capabilities and limitations.” (Hass, Don & Kevin, 2008, p.102). This instigated the use of a simple prototyping technique for information gathering. It was observed that a simple web based application can meet the requirements of the system.

The TTMS will provide a separate authenticated login into the system based on the role of the employee. It will also address the requirement of future training requirement of each employee based on the previous trainings and other employment requirement like the gap between two courses, future role of the employee, his availability in the proposed course schedule, availability of instructors, maintenance of instructor specialty catalog to ascertain the availability of instructors with particular specialty before a course is scheduled, similarly the course scheduling module of the TTMS will also ensure the availability of requisite employees.

The proposed system will support data retrieval based on employee, instructor or training categories. The system will also provide analytical reports that can be generated for each of these categories. The system will keep an updated employee record and will manage the enrollment of new and existing employee in to future courses of various categories. The system will keep information like the name of an employee and instructor, his address, phone number and e-mail address etc. However, it “may promote change in the information processing” (Hay, 2003, p.231). The System will be designed to cater for the future enhancements like course attendance, record of course results, grading of each course participant, provision of course material etc.

Employees will also be informed on
