Section one 1. Provide an overview of the survey results THE INSTITUTE MEMBER The Institute members are working in four different jobs. Analysts represent 27%, whereas, consultants comprise 32.3%.( Sanders & Smidt, 2000) whereas 17% have managerial jobs. The employees compose 23.7% of the total population Of the total 300 persons surveyed, 21.7% are graduate individuals. The members compose 42.3% while the remaining fellows belong to 36%. Scotland residents compose 6.3% of the 300 population. The North Englanders comprise 5.7% ,whereas, people from Midland Wales comprise 15.3%. The Southwesterners belong to 17.7%. The SouthEastern / Londoners comprise 55% of the population. Of the total population, 24% are males and the female gender total 75.7%. People belonging to 69.7% of the population made no transfers to other companies within the last 5 years whereas 24.3% made 1 transfer. Transfer to 2 companies total 5.7% while 0.3% made 3 transfers. INSTITUTE ANNUAL CONFERENCE When the population sample was asked about how they applied for their jobs, a big seventy nine (79) percent answered yes. The other portion of the population representing 21% answered in the negative Thirty percent confirmed that they did not attend any conferences for the last five years whereas 29.3% attended 1 conference, Individuals comprising 29% attended 2 conferences while another 11.7% attended 3 or more conferences. Regarding the barriers to attendance question, the minimum is none for the location, topics, timing of events and domestic reason. Mean is 68 for location. As for the topics, 69 is the mean. Again, the mean for timing of events is 43. The last part, which is the domestics reason part, resulted to 18 mean. The standard deviation for location is 47 Whereas, the standard deviation for topics is 46%. The standard deviation resulted to 50% for timing of an events. The last part is the standard deviation of 38% for domestic reasons. The descriptive statistics will show that minimum for interested in the subject, networking opportunity, personal development, professional and professional development is zero. The mean for interested in the subject is 54. The mean for the networking opportunity is 74. The mean for the personal development is 25. The mean for the professional development is 64%. The standard deviation for interested in the subject is 50%. The standard deviation for networking opportunity is 44%. The standard deviation for personal development 43%. The standard deviation for professional development is 64%. Regarding the question how useful is the conference, 32.3 said the conference was very useful. Then 38% of the population said that they were quite useful. The next group stated that the seminar was not very useful. The other group of 14.7%. said that the conference was not all useful. Regarding the opinions on the conferences, 8.3% of the 300 population said that the conferences were too formal. The next group stated that the conference was about right belong to 79.7%. Then another 12%. said it was too informal. INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS (Please circle one response only) When asks about the frequency of the institute magazine, 9% said they were too few while another 81% said they were just right and another 10% stated that they were just too many. Of the total 300 population, 35.7% indicated they very satisfied while 39.7% said they were quite satisfied with the content of the institute magazine. Another 14.7% said they were dissatisfied with the content of the institute magazine. The very dissatisfied group is only 10%. The mean is .99. The standard deviation is 95%. The respondents said, the mean for the survey on information on conference is 2 and the standard deviation is 78%. The information on local events survey resulted to 2.13 mean. This generated the standard deviation of 76%. Of the question relating to institute developments, the mean is 2.02. The standard deviation in this situation is 79%. Relating to the topic recruitment vacancies, the mean is 1.69. The related standard deviation is 79%. The mean in the topic of literature on training courses is 1.83. The related standard deviation is 64%. On the topic literature on academic courses, the mean is 1.97. The related standard deviation is 78%. In the question regarding frequency of the institute journal, only 4.3% said that the institute journal was too few. When they were asked, 88% said that the frequency of the institute magazine was about right and another 7% said that frequency of issues of the institute magazine was too many. On the topic view on the frequency of the institute magazine, the mean 2.03. The standard deviation is 34%. When asked if they were happy with the content of the institute journal, 35% said yes, they were very satisfied and another 33% said they were quite satisfied. The population that were quite dissatisfied is only 14.3%. Of the total population while 17% said that they were very dissatisfied. On the topic of practitioner papers, the mean is .70 and the standard deviation here is 78%. On the topic book reviews, the mean is 2.07. This had a standard deviation of 84%. On the Academic papers issue, the mean is 2.06. The standard deviation here 85%. Of the total population, 33% said they were very interested with the academic papers. Then, 28% said the academic papers were quite interested. The people who were not interested with the academic papers is 39%. Of the practitioner papers, 49.7% said they were very interested in it. 30.3% said that they were quite interested in the practitioner papers. Persons representing 20% surveyed stated that they were not interested in practitioner papers. INSTITUTE WEBSITE (Please circle one response only) Of the total persons interviewed, 6.3% agreed that they have access to the internet. But then, 93.7% had no access. When asked how often they accessed the institute website, 11.7% said they did zero access while 28.3% never accessed the institute website. Another25.3% said that they access the internet weekly. Another 23% visited the institute website once every month. On rating the institute website, 14% said that they had no comment regarding the content of the website while 24% do not know about the content of the website. Another 23.7% It was very good while another 24.3% said it is quite good. Another 14% said that the content of the website is poor. Of people who say that the website is easy to find, the mean is .39 and standard deviation is 49%. For the topic easy to navigate the mean is .40 and standard deviation is 49%. For the topic it is eye catching, the mean is .19 and the standard deviation is 39%. For the easy to download question, the mean .41 and the standard deviation is 50%. Regarding an easy to find question, 61% said that it was easy to find the website in the internet while only 39% said it was not easy to find. People belonging to 81% said that the website was eye catching website & 19% said it was not. THE INSTIUTE COMMITTEE AND GETTING INVOLVED It was also discovered that 24% said they know the members, whereas 76% did not know the institute members. While only 18.3% know how to contact the members, 81.7% do not know how to contact the members. When asked if the readers will allow institute members to contact them, 88% agreed while 12.8% answered in the negative. 2. Identify the key implications in terms of the successes achieved by, and challenges facing, the Management Sciences Institute based on the results presented in this report. The success of the Management Sciences Institute, based on the statistical data, should be turned to the less favorable statistical result like increasing the internet access time for the members and possible and informing persons the members of the contents of the websites. Marks will be allocated for the analysis presented for each part of the questionnaire and summary of the key issues with appropriate recommendations. Total (20 marks) Section two 1. Build a profile for each of the four key types of Institute member; analyst, manager, consultant and academic based on significant relative differences between of these groups. The profile is indicated below as follows: 2. Provide a brief indication of the tests employed in building these profiles and suggest the implication of the findings in terms of the Institute maintaining the relationships with each of the four types of member. The test employed were the chi square and descriptive tests mean, standard deviation and percentage of a sample population of three hundred persons. Based on the statistical findings from the questionnaire using the chi square test, descriptive test, mean and standard deviation test, we can now increase membership by encouraging these four member types to visit more often the institute website because of the many benefits the members can get from the website. The marketing strategy will focus now on increasing website content and viewership. Marks will be allocated for a discussion about the tests employed, the key findings presented and the implication of these findings for the Institute. Total (20 marks) Section three 1. Provide a discussion regarding salary profile of the membership, looking at key associations or differences involving salary and each of the personal indicators provided on the questionnaire in the section labeled “The Institute Member”, i.e. job category, location, gender, age, and number of job moves.
