A Reflective Essay Client Inserts His/her Name Client Inserts Grade Course Client Inserts Tutor’s Name 05/04/2012 INTRODUCTION; New Mobile Waterless Carwash Business Project Plan A waterless carwash business project plan is undoubtedly an exceptionally brilliant and extraordinary idea. Its aim is to provide mobile waterless carwash services at a fee to the consumers of the highly populated city of London. The term mobile means that the services will be provided at consumers’ doorsteps and at their own convenience as far as time is concerned. My team members Mshari, Khaled and Saad provided guided and highly needed support throughout the entire project process that I developed a feeling that working as a team is fan. This was through full participation in various undertakings and contributing by introduction of their individual knowhow and views that were later integrated to furnish the project plan. Their timely accomplishment of assigned duties is not to forget. The enthusiasm that well describes the viability of the project came from the mere realization that unfrustratingly, the current technological availability can facilitate the success of the idea. Additionally, the project is environmentally friendly. This realization fundamentally made me find the idea charming because for one, it is a new idea to many, viable, has massive market potential, environmentally friendly and that with financial ability, one can individually start his or her own business. Upon realizing however, challenges pose ahead as underscored hereunder, although this is common when starting a new and unique business venture. ACHIEVEMENTS First, coming up with a comprehensive business plan was basically a great achievement in my view. The role of each team member towards composing the plan which mostly included creative thinking, contribution of spicy ideas and rich insights into the business scope, research materials integration and appraisals during the group meetings was well conducted. Secondly, the collection of reliable data on the ground and its analysis was successfully conducted. The ease of the project functioning was realized due to the availability of technological knowhow to back it up. The potential market realized was high as acknowledged by the appreciation expressed by the attended interviewees, being an environmentally friendly project. The latter aspect of the project added to the confidence. I gained personal experience and insight in the entire process of working as a team where every person is listened to with interest. CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED The entire data collection process was not easy. First, the use of secondary data sources with the respect to the nature of the project was a challenge move. The unique nature of the project prompted lack of relevant background information that will enhance the project since there have been no other such projects previously. Luckily, this turned out beneficial in academic context because every member was forced to engage in creative thinking and acted as a measure of individual capability and too enhanced teamwork. Sometimes, there emerged inconclusiveness of ideas after a group meeting. The collection of raw data was equally challenging. The availability of ready-to-listen ears was not guaranteed (Adam, 1991). One had to rely on despondence’s acceptance. The functionality of the project itself was realized to face some challenges too. For one, the competition from the already well established businesses providing similar services would be a great challenge. Such businesses which obviously have firm ties with their highly probable loyal customers provide high competition and extracting customers from them is hardly achievable thing. These businesses too, may be covering wide geographical market cover adding to their customers’ faith in them. However, there is a tendency of consumers to embrace a business with a new technology as is the case with the behaviour of many. The problem of the small base of the new business project may lead to lack of the capacity to reach customers. Sadly, this is an inefficiency factor. Another problem encountered was the legislative acceptance of the project. The government policies for new ventures could be a challenge, especially when the question of standards or quality assurance of the new service becomes hard to answer. There was also a problem when it came to defining our service/ product and pricing. This needed research from local businesses providing similar services which was not quite an easy subject to tackle. During the market survey, there was no much information because of lack of specific experts to source information from. There were no previously experienced experts especially with the new technology. The information collected was therefore more or less that from the consumers and from the existing experts from already existing carwash businesses which do not use the proposed technology. However, the information collected was worth risking. All in all, the positive side of it was that I gained experience that one does not always get what he or she deserves or wants, but one has got to use the available resources thoughtfully (Smith 1991). Every challenge was taken as a chance to experience and grow with the business world and too, as said earlier, provided ample grounds to exercise one’s creativity. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE TEAM’S WORK The project’s plan’s issues were handled with much care. While preparing it, I believe that my team used relevant sources of information yet incorporating the knowledge previously gained from business field of study. For example, examination and criticizing of an information source was a usual thing. The team was quite innovative when dealing with the problems so encountered. New ideas were put on the table and their relevance critically analyzed. For the entire process to come to a successful image, various skilled moves were employed. The ethics that are tagged with the collection of data processes were followed to win favour from the respondents, let alone choosing the most appropriate and reliable techniques while sourcing information. The nature of the project, to me, takes the best module. That is, it offers a wide-space-idea that one can safely invest in future. Teamwork is a wonderful way of handling problem because I reckon that if such a project rested only on my shoulders, there are high chances that I would not have made it. REFERENCES Smith, A., 1991.
