What Entrepreneurship Means To Me Entrepreneurship entails the ability and willingness to begin, organize and manage a business venture with the generation of profit as the expected result. It involves risk taking and venturing in new discoveries, which are dictated upon by new market demands (Greene 2). My lifetime experiences have given me the motivation to start a business so that I can follow in the roots of my family. To achieve this I need to study entrepreneurship so as to be a good manager for the business I will start.

I am 29 years old, and a first generation college graduate. I am a business major with a 3.8 cumulative GPA. I have seen a business grow and sustain people and this is because my father opened a restaurant in 1970 and had a successful business for more than 30years in Chicago. However, both of my parents have passed away and now I am supposed to get a living for myself and I have venturing into business so that I can continue from where my father left and also sustain myself.Entrepreneurship has taught me that there are many opportunities to be identified as was done by my father, and that possibility exists to make a successful living for those who are not afraid to venture into unexplored areas and to commit their finances for the same and thus make profit.

Having the right educational background as a business major is an asset to me because it gives me the competitive edge in the business world where great opportunities abound. The educational background is important due to the constant changes in the business world, which the entrepreneur should keep abreast with. The great problems in America are seen by an entrepreneur not as problems but as opportunities. This is because when an entrepreneur finds solutions; there will be people affected who will pay for the services offered thus creating wealth for them.

An entrepreneur’s success is derived from the ability to see and take advantage of change in situations thereby creating wealth. The ever changing world requires that the entrepreneur should always be on the look out for new markets, create new solutions and devise new and profitable production methods to meet the demand. Therefore, entrepreneurship will give me an avenue to start my own business, achieve success and be financially stable.Work CitedGreene, Cynthia. Entrepreneurship: Ideas in Action, 2011.
