Doing Business with North Americans Introduction The strategic location of North America can be traced back historical form the continental drift from Africa and the influx of Inhabitants into the region. During the continental drift, The North American continent drifted towards its current location which is synonymous with harsh climatic conditions which consists of extreme cold temperatures. In fact the initial inhabitants of the region had migrated into the land around 30,000 years ago but left due to the climatic conditions (Moran et al, 511).

However, it is during the influx of the Europeans that opened the doors for other inhabitants and the beginning of civilization through introduction of major economic and cultural activities. As a result, the major economic activities in Northern America can be traced back to the historical origins of most inhabitants of this continent. Discussion The North American region, which consists of countries such as United States and Canada, opened doors to civilization through diversity brought by the various cultural groups that immigrated into the area.

Since then diversification and economic growth has been evident even in the modern day through institutions and trade agreements such as the North America Free trade agreement. Nevertheless, development in North America is gradually being hampered by disparities between North and South America (Moran et al, 514). With regard to Canada, Prior to the arrival of the Europeans, Native Americans who inhabited the region had thrived through their culture since they owned the land. However, most of them currently live below the poverty level since they have lost most of the property to the late inhabitants and the governments in the region (Moran et al, 520).

As a result, the government in Canada has been increasing its efforts compensate the affected Native Americans. Moreover, the Private sector has increased its efforts over the years to enhance business with Native Americans in Canada. This has involved enlightening the Native Americans on modern business practices and while allowing them to hold on to their tradition (Moran et al, 520). On the other hand, another business perspective with regard to North America can be based on the United States.

United States is centrally located in North America “south of Canada and North of Mexico” (Moran et al 526). Unlike Canada, the terrain and climate in United States varies significantly among regions. However, the historical influx of inhabitants in America is similar to that of Canada that in this case contributes to the diversity in the country. Moreover, immigration into America is still rife to date (Moran et al, 539). The current state of America was shaped through many conflicts, which involved fight against British colonialism and also struggle against slavery by Africans.

By the twentieth century America had grown into a democratic and powerful state with the ability to be categorized amongst powerful nations as observed during World War I and II. Up to date America has grown into a multicultural and independent nation with a stable economic and social values. Nevertheless, due to immigration a lot of cultures have cropped up leading to emergence of various minority groups from different continents (Moran et al, 536). Nevertheless, the cultural variety in the United States still forms the basic pillars of business culture in The United states.

Conclusion The modern economical and trading practices in Northern America can be presumed to derive most of its structures from the historical background of the country. In this case, the native people of North America were used to a traditional life and a communal livelihood. However, based on colonization and influx of people from various continents, the Northern American continent diversified most of its ideas and practices in order to form a stable continent that fostered economic growth.
