Health Care - Look Into the Career Path of the Industry Abstract This is an evaluation of an Executive Assistant’s particular stint as an Executive Assistant in the Health Care industry and the problems that arise. Similarly such knowledge shall look into the career path of the industry and the need to establish a certain equilibrium congruent to both the system and the provider. Critical Thinking Feeling the upper hand on a present promotion as an Executive Assistant, Chris Smith undermined his new role believing that the value line taught in the academe poses a similarity in the real world. Upon consideration on the extent of his responsibilities, Chris has discovered that the ground rules of the medical service is its ability to provide such under a sincere and qualified personnel who is expected to extend its full support over the patient and his family. At the same time, such responsibilities extend and uphold the interest of the company that works in collaboration with other insurance companies. Costs of services are then considered to be in conjunction with a pre-approved limit that carries an effective balance of duties and responsibilities. Similarly, certain conflicts arise when the balance is distorted and medical errors in the clinical institution attracts a situation in stark comparison to the ethics and laws that the company stakeholders believed in while protecting their best interests. Conflict of laws certainly worked against the achievement of a certain purpose especially where reduction results to decreased quality of service against a continuum of care provided for the patient. The question of, sacrificing and allowing cost to impede the quality of service provides as the main considerable conflict in the case. Superficially, we can identify the surface conflict within the principles of business ethics that Chris is tasked to investigate and create certain essential components and probable solutions within the scope of his study. It is a proven fact that the highly technical gadgets in the health industry costs formed a considerable amount of money as investment. Stakeholders expect to maintain appropriate cost control factors against an affordable health program commonly available for all. Yet, every labor force knows the hardships encountered just to maintain a scenario that best creates a win-win solution between the patient and family and the health provider. It is but difficult to consider such factors especially when cost drivers associates the prescription drugs cost, current medical; device, government mandates an litigation and risk management and the future of the health industry and its day-to day operations. Competition has also allowed creating a surface conflict where levels of services are in question against the actual cost of service for the public. In its entirety, the deepest conflict lies within the maintenance of a certain balance on the cost of service that cuts unnecessary expense without sacrificing the quality to create a competitive streak within the industry. Such provisions are questioned when a shift or a disproportioned share is seen inside the business community and its clients. As a move to improve the situation, the health industry has opposed the government mandates that demonstrate a stark outweighing of costs. The business sector has provided that certain rules should be subjected to cost analysis that eradicates any mandate which outweighs the standards. Prices of drugs and medicines are enjoined for availability at reasonable prices. At the same time, the government has provided that insurance providers may be encouraged to provide a variety of plans affordable to employer and employees. Similarly, the government has pushed for certain resolutions that looked into possible disputes caused by the tighter security around health insurance program ensuing social struggles (National Coalition on Health Care, 2005). It has realized that the surge in health care spending has dragged economic growth. . unbearable. Clients and sub-dealers were forever trying to raise questions and complaint over a certain product on a daily basis. Needing to get in touch with the higher echelons of the company, I was soon plagued with numerous calls for transmittal to my employers who were most of the time relaying relevant information to me. I took charge of transmitting their thoughts ideas and decision either on paper, over the phone or over other available relevant media. Such gadgets unknown to me were vital to the industry and I soon found out struggling to absorb everything in a short span of time. Considering that the mind can take only what it can handle, I found myself trying to learn everything at the same time with a little help from the technical staff. Sooner than I could imagine, my superiors expected me to take everything all in which I certainly believed were tantamount to exploitation. Nevertheless, upon review I soon learned that I was more than willing to extend my share of trying to learn for myself relevant knowledge required of the job experience. While annoyingly few people cared about the predicaments a newcomer faces, the job entails an interest in gadgetry and usage as the chief qualifications of an Executive Assistant. I have forgotten this vital piece of presentment advertised in my own resume. Upon such realization, I renewed my efforts with equal fervor. I soon learned to ask the correct questions and gave out pertinent criticisms. The job soon proves more than acceptable and interesting. Health care reform (Institute of Medicine, 2003) has insisted on management strategies that incorporate a mix of more and better information and incentives for patients and providers that control the rate of expenditures. Such developments look into certain possibilities brought about by the current adjustments noted in the prevailing health care system. Governments should have looked into this scenario before allowing certain conflicts to happen in the first place knowing that certain mandates can enforce viabilities that look into the benefits of the provider , the health giver and the patient in need.
