Lecturer: Why is it so important for me to be successful? Success is what everyone demands because it is through success that people achieves what they want in life. The definition of success keeps evolving constantly; hence, it can be defined differently from diverse angles. Therefore, from my personal perception, success is when one achieves his or her dreams or attaining real happiness in life. I reside in South Korea and my desire is to achieve my dreams of becoming a father who does not allow anyone to look down on my future family. I want to achieve lucrative position in my future place of work, have enough money for the upkeep of my family and help the unfortunate ones in the society. I want a meaningful work, which is the CEO that offers adequate finances for supporting my future family needs and serve vulnerable or poor people in the society. This is significant because by supporting my future children and the needy people in the society, they would have an opportunity of succeeding in their lifetime. It is significant for me to become successful because being successful means a lot. First, it is through success that one can be able to help the vulnerable or the weak people in the society. Therefore, my aim of becoming successful is to help my family and the society. This is through giving them my support and everything they need in order to turn life into a wonderful living. I will offer my family and the society the opportunities through supporting them financially in order to make life worth a living. From my life experience, I have learnt the lesson of being supportive to the family and the society. This is because it is through the support of my parents and the good people in the society that I have achieved my education. My parents have enabled me to accomplish my education dreams. Therefore, I will also offer the same support to my future family; thus enabling them to succeed to in their future. It is important for me to communicate effectively in order to become successful in future. Communication is the key aspects towards success in a family or any working environment. Therefore, since am planning to become a successful parent and achieve a lucrative position in the work place, I would consider communication aspects. Tan, the author of My Mother’s English attempt to reveal the way the language of her mother limited her English achievements in school (Tan pr. 6). Having to overcome the inadequate level of English through working hard, this enabled Tan to practice the English level beyond her expectations of the young child. Therefore, by presenting Tan’s parents in this case, I have to develop effective communications skills necessary for communicating with others effectively. My success as a future CEO and a father revolves around communicating effectively as this will enable me to achieve success. By Tan presenting her parents, Tan had to strive to develop effective communication skills in order to achieve her expectations in the society successfully. Additionally, although the Journey for Tan and I is different, his article is valuable because it reveals the way one can strive hard in order to accomplish the desired objectives in life. For instance, the journey towards attaining success is not easy. However, with determination and hard work, one can eventually accomplish his or her mission successfully. Tan struggled to learn effective English in order to communicate with other effectively and the end she achieved her desired goals (Tan pr. Pr. 7). Hence, the article of Tan encourages me to work hard in order to achieve success in the future. Tan quotes that “the only person who can limit you from achieving your desired goals is yourself” (Tan pr. Pr.14). Tan reveals the way it is significant for a person to work hard without limiting his or her desired goals. This is because there is nothing, which is difficult unless someone becomes lazy or fails to work hard towards achieving the desired goals. It is also through success that one can achieve happiness in the family and raise the family in the effective ways; hence enabling them to also live a happy life in the future. People need to make a permanent achievement in their lifetime. This achievement does not come by accident but rather working hard to achieve it. For instance, Steve Jobs who is one of the successful company developers and the CEO of Apple Industry assert that “if you are angry, find the food which you want and go for it” (Naughton pr. 7). There is no hesitation or doubt when one needs something because working for it will enable one to finally achieve it. Therefore, striving hard in life will enable me to achieve success in life. This is through setting objectives that I will achieve in the future and striving hard to ensure that I achieve effectively my objectives. Being successful is essential because it will enable one to achieve his or her desired goals, and meet the demanding goals of the entire population in the society. Therefore, I want to work hard in my studies in order to attain my dreams of achieving a lucrative position such as the CEO work in the company and get enough money to feed my family as well as meet the needs of weak people in the society. By being the CEO of the company would not only mean that now I will earn a lot of money to meet the basic needs of my family but also meet the needs of the society. It will enable me to serve the vulnerable people such as the street children, poor people living in our community and serve the entire community as well. Many CEO workers have a lot of work because they spend most of the time and money as well as energy in creating change in the working environment and people in the society. Hence, helping the society to meet their demanding needs is essential because this will also enable the society to succeed in the future. I also want to become successful by defining the meaningful work that I will offer people in the society. Being successful is not an issue of the way to get there, but rather the way to get things done effectively by defining the meaningful work. Many individuals resist success since they fail to understand what it takes for them to be successful. Success starts from within and this is especially when an individual begins to perform things that he or she likes; hence enlightening the society. What makes one happy and what one can provide in a unique and fulfilling manner are all what counts as success. For instance, Steve Jobs is one the emulating examples of the people who have become successful through offering unique things into the society. By emulating his example, one can become successful no matter what obstacles or challenges one faces in life. In addition, by defining the meaning work one can become successful like Steve Jobs. This is through setting a solid foundation and putting more efforts of achieving what is best for the community. One can also find what he or she loves most and start developing it into success. For example, Steve Jobs quoted that “you have got to find what you love” when he was making the commencement speech in the Stanford university (Naughton pr. 6). From this speech, Steve Jobs wanted to put across the way one can achieve success in the society through beginning with what one is capable of doing. This is because success is not achieved by coincidence but rather through hard work and determination. Yet again, Steve jobs argued that one cannot connect the dots when looking forward but rather looking backwards (Naughton pr. 12). In this case, Jobs meant that one should have trust that when connecting dots while looking backwards, one will eventually connect into the future. This is through putting trust in something; thus reaching the destiny successfully. Naughton (pr.19) reveals the way setting the goals in life while keeping in mind that there is no other day of doing something apart from today. The author reveals the story of Steve Jobs and the way he made into the top ladder of success. Thus, Steve Jobs reveals that in case on lives each day as if it was his or her last day, then certainly one will be right (Naughton pr.19). In this case, it is significant to work hard in the present as if there is no other day of fluffing one’s needs. This will encourage an individual to strive hard towards achieving the unique things that will benefits others in the society. In case one remembers that he or she will be dying soon, one will make big choices in life. Steve Jobs further reveals that when an individual keeps remembering that he will die soon, he or she will follow his or her heart and make reasonable decisions in life (Naughton pr. 20). Having a desire to do something as long as one is ready to learn a few things along the way can lead to success. Therefore, as am planning to become a successful father and achieve a lucrative position in the work environment, it is significant to learning the necessary steps for achieving my mission. This is essential because it can contribute to successful achievement of my desires. Furthermore, the article of Alexie, Superman and Me inspires me towards achieving my goals. Alexie reveals the story on the way he learnt how to read successfully. Alexie had a problem of reading books but after the dead of his father, he picked one of his father’s books so that he can read. The words were foreign, and Alexie never had good vocabulary of saying the word “paragraph” (Alexie pr. 2). Moreover, with the desire and commitment that Alexie made through reading words loudly each day, he leaned to read vocabulary words effectively. The article of Superman and Me has meaningful ideas, which are necessary for achieving success. This is through the way the author narrates on how he learnt to pronounce vocabulary and read English words successfully. The story of Alexie is similar to my case because when I was young, I had a problem with vocabulary words. This is because I could not pronounce English words effectively and I always admired the way my friends could pronounce words fluent. However, with time and vigilant practice, I started communicating fluent in English. Therefore, success is not achieved by coincident but rather through putting efforts; thus enabling an individual to create meaningful work in the society. In conclusion, it is significant for me to become successful in life because I want to achieve my dreams of becoming a father who does not allow anyone to look down on my future family and offer support to the entire community. This is through working hard in order to obtain a lucrative position in the work environment. It is through success that one can be able to help the vulnerable or the weak people in the society. Therefore, it is crucial for me to achieve success in order to support my future children and the weak people in the society. It is important for me to communicate effectively in order to become successful in the future since success does not come by coincidence. Communication is the key aspects towards success in a family or any working environment. With determination and hard work, one can eventually accomplish his or her mission successfully just as the way Tan the author of the article My Mothers English became a successful reader. Tan and Alexie are the great inspiration to my success. Alexie in his article of Superman and Me also became a successful reader after a long struggle of pronouncing vocabulary words effectively. I also want to become successful by defining the meaningful work that I will offer people in the society. Having a desire to do something as long as one is ready to learn a few things along the way can lead to success.
