Design of a new Resort Complex Theme This is a hill resort catering to trekking, bird watching and wildlife. This is for all those who want to be closer to the nature and wants to take a stroll into the forest and enjoy the flora and fauna there. Target Market There is a large crowd of people who want to get out of the crowds! This resort will cater to all those who would like to breath fresh air without having the pollution of the automobiles and cities. The resort will also cater to all those who want to take a break from the summer’s heat and travel to the tropical climates but at the same time do not want to have the tropical summer beating down on their faces or backs. The resort will also address those people who have the great love for nature and enjoy walking in the forests in early morning summer with temperatures at a pleasant 24 degrees Celsius. The place will abound in natural flora and fauna that will be a treat to all those nature lovers. Varieties of birds and animals make these tropical hills their abode. More than 10% of the total population will be willing to spend such quality time along with their families which will form a great education trip to the young children as well. Location The location suggested for this resort will be in the hills of the western ghats in South India. India is not a frequented destination in the west and would have its own old age charm and the modern life. There are huge stretches of verdant forest that would enthuse all holiday goers. This location I have conceived is called Top Slip. This has natural rain forest that literally is raining all through the year. It does not pour inside the forest but is always wet. The resort can be out of the rain forest and could be in a trek able distance from it. On one side of the rain forest, there is an elephant camp where elephants are captured, trained and are used for lumbering. It would make an interesting sight to see the elephants fed. So passive are these animals that you would feed them yourself and take as many photographs as you want sitting on these elephants. There are good trekking routes on all sides of the resort. Virgin mountains offer wide scope for mountaineering exercises as well. You may trek into the rainforests after reading the warning on the leeches and of course not to disturb the animals that are living there. If you are silent enough you can meet not just deer and antelopes but also bisons, small sloth bears and a wide variety of birds starting from large hornbills to small sun birds. If you are lucky you might glimpse a panther or a tiger! Trekking routes are also there on the other sides of the resort and into the tea estates that abound the place. You could walk through in the early morning among the tea pickers. You may also trek through routes that take you through the teak plantations. The setting offers excellent and natural surroundings that would enthrall anyone. Map of the Resort Facilities The resort will boast of the following facilities that will add to the comfort, joy and happiness of the guests. 1. The resort will have well appointed guest rooms and suites that will have modern closets and furniture that will match star hotels elsewhere. Communication facilities will match the best of the hotels. 2. Rooms will be spacious and the suites will have one bedroom, a sitting room and a small kitchenette. 3. The resort will have a restaurant that will serve food from various parts of the world. It will serve continental, Chinese, Malay, Indian, Tandoori and Mexican foods apart from the western choices. In the evenings, the restaurant lights up with music and a dance floor with a fully stocked bar. 4. A warm swimming pool will help the guests to unwind and relax while taking a grand swim in the well architected swimming pool with natural stones and grass on the side and a diving board that would make the pool more like a natural stream but warm and comfortable. 5. A lawn where barbeque is served every evening in the moonlight. 6. A gym, shuttle and tennis courts, children’s play area, a night stroll circle and a library all add to the charm of the place. 7. There will be a dynamic event organizer who will be organizing treks, hikes, picnics, dance parties, birthday parties and any event that a particular group might be interested in. There will be picnics to a dam near by where boating is available in the lake there. Planning and Development The development of the resort will follow the roadmap given below: 1. Identify the exact site location and organize to purchase the same. 2. Map the location with our plan and ensure the size of the area matches with the requirement laid out 3. Organize funding for the project including land purchase, construction and maintenance cost for a period of 6 months. 4. Give out a tender for the right engineering company to construct the resort. Also appoint the right architect for making the place in line with a star hotel. 5. Select the company and ensure appropriate construction norms are followed. 6. Plan the staff needed for manning the resort, restaurant, maintenance staff, managers and event organizers. Organize to get them in at around the time when the project is about to kick off after completion of construction work. 7. Plan for a good inaugural show with public figures coming down to inaugurate the resort creating the kind of aura that will catch the eye of the public. Conclusion A hilly place in the tropics is cool and warm in all seasons. It adds to the comfort of the guests who come to make a temporary home of the resort. Staying in the resort for a period of ten to fifteen days, will rejuvenate the person and on his or her return to the work will find herself fit and trim for the challenges in the daily life. To add to all this, the Indian Summer or the Indian Winter would also be not a costly affair but something that most people could afford. Taking all this into consideration and the great awareness that is currently in vogue, a natural resort proximate to the flora and the fauna that rule the forests will be an impressive resort for all people.
