 1. The teacher profession differs much from many other professions. A teacher deals with children, with their educational and personal needs, and a person who intends to become a teacher should have appropriate personal and professional traits. As my experience shows, I have all the necessary skills and great desire to be a teacher. First of all, I like to deal with children, I understand their needs, their social and psychological features and I can communicate with them very well. In addition to that, I have all necessary skills to become a teacher. I am very good at explaining things, even if they seem rather complicated. I like to explain how something works and is functioned, and I feel comfortable with explaining different themes and topics to children, and they understand me very well. I always keep my cool, and I am a well organized person, so the work at school will allow me to reveal best my personal and professional traits. In addition to that, I can be a real leader if the situation demands and I like to be a leader, so I hope that teacher profession will allow me to develop my abilities and personal traits. I have a good command of content I will teach, and I like to explain it to children, as well as analyse difficulties and misunderstandings with them. I am flexible and enthusiastic, and I am sure that these features of my personality will help me in my teaching. My experience shows that I like to use a variety of different teaching strategies, and I always try to achieve maximal results utilizing them. In addition to that, I am a very imaginative person, and I hope to reveal my imagination, professional effectiveness, good ability of interacting with children, democratic character, accessibility to children and students in my future pedagogical practice. That’s why I want to become a teacher. 2. My previous pedagogical experience will ensure high academic achievement for my students. During my experience I have learned and trained many pedagogical methods which can help me in my future pedagogical activity. For example, I have gained the ability to be good and effective manager. It is very important for a teacher to be a good manager as he must be a real leader and a positive example for students. As a manager I will be able to organize teaching and learning process very effectively – it will ensure high academic achievement for my students. In addition to that, I have learned to have high expectations of myself and other people. So, I will be able to be exacting and make my students to fulfil appropriate tasks which will ensure their high academic achievements. I also have learned to pay appropriate attention to small things – it is also very important for effective classroom management and different kinds of teaching activities directed to high academic achievement for students. Task-oriented teacher also can direct students to their learning achievements and improve their learning outcomes, and my previous experience has taught me to be task-oriented person. In addition to that, my experience helped me be open to new theories and views, including new learning and teaching methods which can promote higher achievements to my students. I also became ready for different pedagogical activities outside the class as I understand that teacher profession includes many kinds of such activities, and I am aware that it is also promotes high pedagogical and learning results for my pupils. One of the most important traits of a teacher today is to be democratic in his teaching and dealing with students, and my previous experience gave me such skills and abilities. A democratic teacher can promote students’ self-realization and their ability to think independently and in their own manner – it develops their learning skills and helps them to ensure high academic achievements. My previous experience has developed my personal traits as an active person, and it also will help in my future work as a teacher. A teacher is involved in many kinds of activities which demand to be active: a classroom management, participation in many teams and groups, dealing with discipline problems and many others, and I hope that my previous experience will help me to do it very well and hence to ensure high academic achievements for my students. 3. Nearly all Fellows work in 'high-need schools' located in low-income communities. It is not easy to work in such schools, but I also want to teach in a high-need school. There are some reasons why I am eager to work there. I hope that I will get a very useful and effective pedagogical practice working in a high-need school, and this experience will promote my future professional achievements. It is known that pupils in such schools have many problems with discipline and positive learning outcomes, and I think that my professionalism, my love for children and for my teacher profession, my desire to apply new teaching technologies and methods, my personal and professional traits will promote my successful working in a high-need school. I feel a real calling to work in such school, and I hope that it is the main reason why I want to teach in a high-need school. As one of high-need school teachers wrote, “If there is no desire to be there from an internal motivation, no teacher will stick it out. There has to be a drive, a passion for working in these schools that cannot simply be bought through a salary incentive” (12 Insights from the Front Lines). In addition to that, I want to prove to myself and other people that I have a good command of teaching and dealing with children, I am well-prepared and rather qualified, and that my experience will allow me to achieve high professional results – some people consider that “Teachers in such schools often are inexperienced, poorly prepared, and generally less qualified than teachers in successful schools, and the lower quality of education contributes to achievement gaps” (High-need schools). I want to understand problems, desires and needs of children studying in such schools. As a real professional, I will successfully deal with these problems and do all my best to achieve teaching and pedagogical success.
