Lesson plan review Preparation The preparation included the determination of the lesson objectives and the best means of achieving such. The teacher thus carries out extensive research to determine the best means of achieving his lesson objectives. The teacher selects appropriate content for the pupils searching for appropriate essay to read to the pupils. The essay must contain appropriate vocabularies, which would assist the young learners improve their understanding of the language. The teacher records such vocabularies and constructs several other sentences to give to the class as examples and ways of using the vocabularies. With effective preparations, the teacher presents himself appropriately and with appropriate examples to help the young learners understand the subject. The young learners rely extensive on examples given. The teacher must therefore develop appropriate examples using the vocabularies with the view of improving the young learners’ conceptualization of the words and their usage. Additionally, the preparations included the preparation of the course materials such as the writing board and marker pen, the review of the course books and the writing pads. Reviewing the book beforehand prepares the teacher for the lesson thus preventing confusion in front of the leaners. Building background The teacher will also review past lessons in order to assume a progressive nature to teaching. This will include preparing the contents to fit his or her last lesson. This way, the teacher begins the class by reminding the leaners of the previous class thus testing their memories. Such an approach to teaching makes learning a progressive process with learners always making effort to learn something new, to implement this more effectively, the teacher develops several brief questions in advance to ask the pupils in the course of the lesson. In building an effective background for the lesson, the teacher reads several books to develop and effective understanding of the vocabularies, he or she seeks to teach the young learners. The books will include both the course books among many other relevant books that may contain similar concepts with his or her reach. Extensive reading makes the teacher comfortable with the concepts to teach. Additionally, the extensive reading makes it possible for the teacher to select an appropriate assay for the class. The appropriateness of the essay improves the success of the lessons since the essay will include the appropriate vocabularies and their suitable usage. Comprehensible input The teacher will help the pupils understand the story and the spelling of the words by writing the words on the board and engage the students in rubbing them out as they read. This provides the pupils with adequate interactivity and visual aspect thus improving their understanding of both the story and the vocabularies. The lesson must have a clear structure that is easy to understand given the tender age of the learners. The teacher must strive to improve their understanding of the vocabularies and their application in other sentences besides those in the essay. The teacher will therefore read the story out to the class; the story is descriptive and describes a particular action. The story must draw the interest of the learners in order to invoke their concentration, conceptualization and possible understanding. The teacher will read out the story without breaking to explain any concept until completion. He reads out the each word loudly and clearly to enable every pupil to understand effectively. Strategies The teacher groups the learners and permits them to work in groups before presenting their findings to the rest of the class through their group leaders. The opportunity develops effective personalities in the learners by providing the pupils with an opportunity to interact freely and solve their differences within the groups. The teaching strategies employed by the teacher must improve the learners’ conceptualization and understanding of both the essay and the vocabularies. Among the strategies, the teacher uses include reading the essay out to the class. This develops attentiveness in the pupils. They will have to listen carefully and master both the story and the vocabulary. Repeating the story helps the pupils understand the story better besides refreshing their memory on the key points. After reading, the teacher allows every pupils to reconstruct and retell the story from their memory to the class. Meanwhile the rest of the class helps the narrator complete the forgotten parts. This interactive activity develops the interpersonal skills in the young learners. Interactions The class must be as interactive as possible, the interactions between the teacher and the pupils and that among the pupils are all essential and the teacher must assume an approach to teaching that portrays the two. The teacher will read the story to the class, an exercise that invokes the pupils’ attentiveness. By reading the story to the pupils, the teacher improves his or her interaction with the pupils who strive to understand the essay. The teacher then writes the essay in the board and asks the children to read the essay loudly three times. By doing this, the teacher develop an effective opportunity to monitor the strengths and abilities of each student by observing them as they read aloud. The teacher the divides the pupils into groups of equal pupils and instructs them to work in the group and the group leader to present the groups finding to the class. The teacher permits the pupils to select their own group leader and provides the group leader with an opportunity to represent the group’s finding to the rest of the class with the help of his colleagues. This provides the learners with an opportunity to interact freely thus develop string personalities besides the evident freedom to learn relatively the opportunity presents. Review and assessment Through the three strategies, the teacher will determine the students understanding of the vocabularies and their ability to use them without coercion. The teacher evaluates the success of the lesson by observing the pupil’s performance. Failure by a few pupils would communicate their weaknesses while failure by majority of the class to complete the tasks effectively and retell the story from their memory would mark a failure of the entire teaching process thus compelling the teacher to device better lessons. However, with the effective selection of the topics and essay, the likelihood for success is high. Reviews and assessments help the teacher determine the success of the lesson and his or her teaching strategies. In this lesson plan, the teacher adopts an interactive teaching system, which provides an effective opportunity for the teacher to assess both himself or herself and the pupils. The teacher will ask the pupils to read the essay aloud three times divide the pupils into groups and allow them to work freely with each other and finally let each student reconstruct the story from their memory.
