Lesson Planning Exercise Video Rubik’s Cube (http edupros.ca/mov/rubiks.htm Describe intendedlearners. Age: 15+ Gender: Male and Female Need: General/Interest in Solving puzzles 2) Describe the instructional technique. Warm up activity: None Main activity: Solving the Rubik’s Cube Follow up activity: None 3) Describe the instructional material. Tools/Material: Rubik’s Cube Classroom environment: There is no classroom environment created in particular for the lesson. 4) What did you like about the instruction? There is no instruction in particular and it is very difficult to understand what is being done. Irrespective of age and intellectual capacity, it is very difficult to follow what is being done. Hence, there is nothing that I like about this instruction. 5) What would you like to see different about the lesson? I would want to see the instruction being slowed down so that what is happening can be followed. Also the tutor needs to explain what is being done and make the viewer understand the strategy being applied to solve the puzzle. 6) Was the instruction/lesson successful? Justify your choice. The instruction/lesson was not successful because it does not serve the purpose of teaching how to solve a Rubik’s cube. There are no proper instructions and it is very fast which makes it highly difficult for the student to learn. Video 2: Tennis (http://edupros.ca/mov/tennis.htm) 1) Describe intended learners. Age: 15+ Gender: Male and Female Need: To learn and apply backhand pattern 2) Describe the instructional technique. Warm up activity: Brief introduction on the zones (forehand and backhand) in a court Main activity: playing back hand shots Follow up activity: practice and knowing the different zones in the court 3) Describe the instructional material. Tools/Material: Tennis Racquet Classroom environment: The environment is very authentic as it taught in a tennis court. 4) What did you like about the instruction? The instruction is brief and touches upon the basics. It is targeting the learners or players who are starting. It is explained in a laymen’s language make it easier to understand. 5) What would you like to see different about the lesson? The lesson can be improved by using an actual ball and showing how exactly the shot is completed. That will help in driving the point home. Right now it is more theoretical and using the ball will make it a practical learning experience. 6) Was the instruction/lesson successful? Justify your choice. The lesson is partially successful as it only touches upon the basic and gives a theoretic explanation. It would have been a complete success had it been shown using an actual ball and the completion of the shot during different scenatios. Video 3: Violin (http://edupros.ca/mov/violin.htm) 1) Describe intended learners. Age: 10+ Gender: Male and Female Need: Learn to use a Violin 2) Describe the instructional technique. Warm up activity: None Main activity: learn how to use a violin Follow up activity: None 3) Describe the instructional material. Tools/Material: Violin Classroom environment: Environment is well created with a boy showing the way violin has to be used. A musical environment is created keeping in mind the student. 4) What did you like about the instruction? It is very well explained, both orally and physically. The instructions are clear and are followed by the boy showing exactly what needs to be done. It involves both theoretical and practical teaching. 5) What would you like to see different about the lesson? Yes, a little change is needed. It would be more effective if the tutor himself can give the instructions and show how it is to be followed rather than the boy showing it. 6) Was the instruction/lesson successful? Justify your choice. The instruction/lesson was successful but did not do justice to the actual purpose. The actual purpose was to teach how to play violin but the instructions are more targeted on how to use a violin rather than actually playing it. Warm up/Elicitation Production Activity Handout/Audiovisuals Activity Handout/Audiovisuals A slight jog or a brisk walk along with stretching exercises targeting a runner’s movements and muscles. This will increase the core temperature, respiratory rate and heart rate A handout describing how go by with the various activities. It also lists the benefits and the necessity of the exercises. A long run varying from 4 miles to 10 miles. Distance to be increased with time. Focus on completing rather than speed. Handout explaining the course. Exercises techniques to be used in a marathon. Individual student needs to be assessed on acquired skills.
