The paper “Implementing Total Quality Management in the Higher Education Sector” is an inspiring example of the education case study. Records from the Ministry of Education in Oman as noted by Williams (2012 p. 45) indicate that the Sultan Qaboos University, located in Al Khoudh is currently the only public university and thus the premier university in the Sultanate of Oman. Because of this state of the university as the only public university providing higher-level education for the estimated 3,869,873 Omanis (Sultan Qaboos University, 2014) and other International Students, there are a lot of issues that go into the administration of the university to ensure that it lives up to its expected output.

One of these is the fact that the university has very large campuses that try to accommodate as many students as possible. This ambition notwithstanding, the student strength of the university was pegged at 15,500 as of December 2012 (Williamsen 2013, p. 35). Because of the limited space for prospective students, much goes into the selection of qualified students to study at the university. One of these is the need for a student to pass a performance-based high school final examination (Zwetsloot, 2011, p.210). Once admitted, there are several colleges and faculties that a student will learn from.

As part of the tradition of the school in maintaining high standards in both academics, personality training, and discipline, the College of Economics and Political Science, which is the setting for this case study, have had several modalities aimed at ensuring that there is quality in all areas of the college’s management. In this case study, quality in management at the College of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University in Sultanate of Oman is taken from the conceptual perspective of total quality management (TQM).

From the official website of the University, it is noted that the College of Economics and Political Sciences has over 107 instructors and more than 2320 students (Sultan Qaboos University, 2014). What is more, “the College offers undergraduate programs and awards the degree of Bachelor of Science in one of the following majors: Accounting, Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, and Business Statistics” (Sultan Qaboos University, 2014).
