Writing Practice Report Introduction Teachers are the individuals who have opted towards writing and tutoring professionally and this is to note that it is something greatly encouraged and respected around the world, with a good degree. It is the passion to shareone’s educational and writing experiences with others and help them in writing. To write formal or informal piece of writing it requires a lot of endurance and a positive attitude, a willingness to share educational expertise with the pupil, thus making the learning session a success where the message is delivered effectivelyand results are found right there and then. 1. What are the most common and most important kinds of writing completed by teachers besides teaching why these are common and important? Teachers perform various tasks which are categorized according to their style and nature of work. Writing helps teachers in categorization and organization of their thoughts in an organized manner. The first task which starts before the beginning of any lesson is planning, developing and organization of complete instructions. If a teacher is able to compose a well-written and planned lesson then it will make their day to day teaching experience easier and effective (Caswell and Mahler pg. 4-6). The most important type of writing completed by teachers is formal and informal writing. Formal writing includes lesson plans, reports, research papers, rubrics and syllabus,while informal writing includes emails, letters, student parent correspondence etc. Most of the teachers are now instructed to compose their dialogue journals which are considered as a new and open channel of communication. Moreoverthey provide better context for language and literacy development. These dialogue journals arouse confidence in students and allow them a non-threating atmosphere. As this interaction will be written it provides students with the prospects to read and write in a purposeful and natural manner(Coe, Rycroft and Ernest pg 3-12). 2. What kinds of topics and issues are teachers most often dealing with in in their writings? The process approach which is adopted by teachers helps them in writing creative outline and plan for their courses. Teachers are required to formulate lesson plans, reports, research papers, rubrics and syllabus etc. Further teachers have to compose the description of the context for a particular course in which they are focusing to teach. Hence they have to formulate curriculums for their course and department. A rough outline of the assignments and projects will be designed for students along with the task analysis and details for their assessments(Elbow pg 216-223). 3.What audiences are teachers addresses most often in these writings. The immediate and direct audiencesto which teachers address in their writings are the students of the subjects which they are teaching. In this waythey are able to formulate anaffiliationof evaluation and also formulate the criteria for their students. Teachers always greet their students and give each student attention, work around a specific agenda and have an ability to ease up situations that might become tense by showing an optimistic and positive attitude. Teachers should know their students strengths and weaknesses and try to work out on their strengths to overcome their weakness(Lowe and Zemliansky).Mostly the MBA and PhD. students who have a good grasp on research and writing also get stuck while writing a quality essay. Sometimes teachers are required to re-define their teaching and even writing strategies therefore they should be prepared for any situation that the students might divert at them(Dorfman and Cappelli). 5.What processes are involved in the most common and most important writing teachers do in their job besides teaching? A good and effective teacher is the one who would try his best to make his students feel independent to ask questions and put in their opinion and thoughts while class discussions are held. He is the one to develop the student’s learning skills and help them develop confidence. One should also understand the difference between tutor and classroom teacher, these two are different based on the techniques, relationships and methodology that they apply(Srivastava). In order to achieve a successful tutoring session for a teacher there are certain points to keep in mind: Have a complete understanding and information on the topic of discussion, be confident and have all important resources e.g. books, internet connection and of course laptop available. Act on an equal pace with your students and try to be energetic and cheerful during the session. Try to create an interesting learning environment that is both fun and entertaining too, so you don’t bore your students and grasp their attention. Have a very professional and optimistic approach towards all the discussions and be prepared for the rapid fire of questions from the students. Always suggest positive solutions to any problem that they may discuss and never try to put opinions in their mind, try to show care and present oneself in a way that they confide in their teacher(Deese-Roberts and Keating). Conclusion There are many educational institutions, organizations and agencies that are in search of talented and competent writers, especially those who are teachers and writers too.
