Extract of sample "Preparing Teachers for Multicultural Classrooms"

A. Review of a journal article by Premier & Miller d “Preparing teachers for multicultural rooms.” The main purpose of the study is to investigate pre service measures that can be implemented in order to improve the performance teachers who teach multicultural students. The paper focuses on how teacher student involvement through professional rounds can improve the needs of the students. B. The paper reviewed different types of studies that outline the role of teachers and how their interaction with students such as rounds help to improve the students’ performance.

For instance, there are certain factors that ought to be taken into account by the teachers such as attitudes, cross cultural understanding and practices (Giambo & Szecsi, 2005;Youngs & Youngs , 2001) that help improve interaction between the two groups. C. The main questions about the paper relate to the importance of understanding the student needs such as training that can help them to improve their performance. The paper also sought to find answers about how teachers can help create understanding among multicultural students. D. The sample of the study included 45 final year pre-service teachers.

The sample was selected in such a way that the researchers will get the views of the respondents with regards to the importance of teacher student interaction. The participants were chosen from a variety of teaching subject areas. Both males and females were involved in this particular study.E. The paper utilised qualitative research method. The researchers used interviews and questionnaires to gather data from the respondents. The main advantage of interviewing method is that the researchers would get first hand information from the respondents.

On the other hand, the questionnaire technique is advantageous in that they reflect the overall views of the participants in the study towards the main area of the study. F. The findings of the study indicate that the courses of pre-service teachers need to be updated in order to address the needs of the students and the teachers. The paper provides practical methods that can be implemented in order to carry out this activity. For instance, teacher student interaction can be improved through rounds in classrooms.

This will help create mutual understanding between the two groups involved. G. The paper concludes that teacher courses need to be improved in order to improve the needs of both groups. Therefore, it is recommended that teaching rounds should be implemented so as to improve communication between the teachers and the students. Where there is communication between the teachers and the students, it can be noted that the teachers are able to utilise the information they get to improve the teaching environment in the classroom.
