Monitoring system is having its impact over several domains. In order to evaluate the development process of children and young people, the monitoring process is an important tool. Monitoring assists in recognizing and maintaining track or surveillance about children and young people. Monitoring is not about emphasizing over a single oriented development process, but it also screens the overall development of children and young people (Crown, 2013). There are different methods that include record sheets and flowchart among others implemented during monitoring young people and children. In this context, the prime concern is related to the success of these methods mentioned above for assessing the growth of children and young people. In order to make process of developing process more successful, the children and young people should be assed in a proper and right manner. By monitoring children and young people’s activities, the rate of growth can be examined in an accurate way (OCR, 2014). In this context, the objective of the assignment is to describe several assessment processes and methods of monitoring young people and children. The study intends to describe about the importance of continuous monitoring in the development of children and young people. Apart from this, the assignment reveals vital information about the expected pattern relating to development of children and young children. In addition, the study highlights various disabilities that have a negative impact over the development of children and young people. In this regard, various interventions that can promote the development of children and young people are discussed elaborately. Different Methods of Monitoring Children and Young People’s Development Continuous monitoring over the development of children and young people is essential for the future growth of children. It is obvious that continuous monitoring and assessment can enables several practitioners associated with health or social care to evaluate children and young people relating to their growth progress are not progressing as per the expectation. In this regard, continues monitoring and observation will enable practitioners to be more knowledgeable regarding the growing process of young people and children (Home Learning College, 2015). Observation requires few innovation regarding informed planning, informed understanding of a child’s current competence levels, evidence on appropriate implied provisions, sharing of information with parents of children and young people, and assessment of specific children or groups, the learning environment as well as assistance (National Association for the Education of Young Children, 2007). In this respect, the use of record sheets is an effective tool for tracking and recording progress of children as well as young people in case of lack of systematic procedure. The practitioners implementing record sheets are able to make instructional decisions appropriately for the development of child care facilities. Another effective method can be the use of a flowchart, with the use of which practitioners can able to map processes effectively based on the information obtained (The Social Research Unit, 2013). Reasons for Not Following the Pathway of Development of Young People and Children Children are recognized to be continuous learner from birth to childhood. Young people and children are pursuing similar pattern of development process. This process will be helpful in progress towards the growth of children. Every child is having different growth and level of development. Development of children and young people are not equal in every domain, but the process is all over same. Though the expected or common patterns of development are considered to be very important, but there are several reasons behind not following those expected pattern that include different needs in terms of social and health requirement. Moreover, cultural difference is identified to be an important aspect for not following the expected pattern (National Association for the Education of Young Children, 2007). There are several major areas of development of children and young people. However, it is more important to understand the process of development of children physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. In this respect, several reasons for not following the expected patterns include disability, emotional reason, physical reason and environmental or social reason (Home Learning College, 2015). Disabilities Disability refers to be a dispute or limitation, which acts as a barrier in the development process of children and young people. Disability is related to the intellectual development, which indicates towards the maturity of mind and behaviour of young people. When a person reveals maturity, responsibility in their thoughts, express feelings by words and action, those persons are considered to be intellectually or cognitively developed. Disabilities in children minimize the possibilities of their development in a specific area (Child and Youth Health, 2014). In this regard, early counselling is required to detect the problem of disabilities in young people and children. Due to disabilities, children and young people are unable to have a proper use of language in their educational developmental process. In addition, young people and children having disabilities will not be able to communicate with proper skills. In this regard, lack of special education may be an important factor for not following the expected pattern of intervention and development (CDC, 2015). Emotional Reason Emotional point of view of children and young people is important for the development process. By evaluating emotional feelings of young people and children, it can be ascertained that children and young people are suffering from depression or any kind of emotional disorder. This factor can influence the lower self-esteem of children. For development of children, emotional maturity has been playing a consistency role in their life. Through the consistency of emotional maturity, young people can shift their thought process from childish needs to adult desires. The behavioural pattern, emotional and physical needs are accounted during the evaluation of emotional development. Correspondingly, children are identified to be in need of formal learning environment (Crown, 2013). Social Reason or Environmental Reason Society and environment are recognised to be vital factors for the overall development of children and young people. Brought up stage of people has been identified to have an imperative impact over the assessment of development process. People brought up in poverty and in stressed environment are facing several challenges related to development. Poverty is the main reason of creating barrier in development process of children. It will be worth mentioning that people living in poverty are unable to achieve or receive proper skilled educational facilities. Inappropriate learning skills are the major cause of development of children (OCR, 2014). Physical Reason The genetic code of humans is important for assessing physical development. It is recognised that due to several physical barriers, children and young people are unable to follow the expected pattern of development. It is also determined that young people having psychical disabilities are not having opportunities to play. In this regard, these young people having physical disabilities are required special education for their development (Nacro, 2011). Disability Affect Development of Children and Young People It has been observed that disability in children is regarded as a vital cause of lowering their self-esteem. It apparently denotes that people who are suffering from any disabilities are unable to develop in a normal way. Correspondently, disability also has an impact over social and emotional development of humans. More specifically, social and emotional development builds up with structuring relationship, adopting social skills, self esteem and reliance as well as capacity of taking own decision. Children brought up with any disabilities will face several problems relating to emotional and social development. It is anticipated that people with any disabilities are unable to build up social relationship with people as well as they are also unable to take the right decision for their better progress in life (Nacro, 2011). Moreover, disabilities are identified to be impacting on intellectual development, which is recognised as intellectual disabilities. It is one kind of mental retardation, which indicates towards major limitations of a person’s ability of doing any work. It is noted that children with intellectual disabilities are having difficulties to recognise own needs and requirements. Due to intellectual disabilities, children are learning in a slow manner. Respectively, children with intellectual disabilities are comparatively much slower in every domain relating to education and decision making as compared to normal children of same age group. A child with intellectual disability will take longer time to speak, walk and learn without someone’s assistance (CDC, 2015). It is also observed that people having disabilities are unable to learn and communicate properly with others. People belonging to similar age group are showing their talent in educational field, but people with disabilities are not able to show proper talent in the same field. Children with disabilities always need help for communication and learning any subject. It is also stated there are several schools for disable students where they can learn and be trained in a very special manner. Disabilities also impact on the physical development of young people. Due to disabilities, young children will not be able to grow as per the expected pattern. In this regard, physical disability is identified to limit the biological growth of children and young people (Child and Youth Health, 2014). Different types of Interventions for promoting Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People Development Health and social care practitioners should be more attentive regarding development of young people and children having disabilities. The promotion of positive outcome of children having physical disabilities is regarded as one of the most important factors for the development of disabled children. In terms of physical development, people are needed to be more cautious regarding providing adequate spaces and equipment for the development of children having disabilities. These children require care and support from other children having normal attributes. The children should be provided with necessary material and equipment for their better future progress (Home Learning College, 2015). Apart from this, people having emotional disability should be praised in their achievements for promoting their outcomes. These children require more attention and proper guidance from their parents, family and society. In addition, practitioners are needed to respect and prefer the choice of young children with disability, so that they are able to have a better independence in making decisions. Children having emotional disabilities are required to spend adequate time with adults and peers for developing social bondage. In this respect, children and young people having disabilities require sharing emotions with other people for minimising their stress level. Providing books and other learning activities are very much important for the development of disabled children and young people (National Association for the Education of Young Children, 2007). Conclusion Based on the above discussion, it has been noted that people having disabilities need to be more cautious regarding their development. It has been observed that the expected pattern of the development process is not followed in the case of children and young people with disability. There are certain important reasons of not following the expected methods of development. It has been stated that young people having any disabilities are unable to adopt the expected manner of development process. Apart from this, young people and children having disabilities are required special monitoring and assessment through record sheet and flowchart among others for smooth and better development. It can be concluded that young people and children with disabilities should required more attention and special attention for their growth and development. In this respect, children with disabilities are needed to be provided with special education needs for their effective development. References Crown, 2013.
