The paper is to find out the acquisition of lexical phrases in Language two (L2) academic writing (Li J. and Schmit N., 2009).Where was the survey/ interview conducted?The longitudinal research was conducted at the University of Nottingham, United States ( Li J. and Schmit N., 2009). What was the population surveyed? What sampling procedures were used? The population under study was a Master of Arts Chinese student who had enrolled in an English Language Teaching program. She had learned English for over 10 years (Li J.

and Schmit N., 2009). How were the data collected? Data was collected from the written assignments and guided semi-structured interviews focusing on those assignments issued which were in the form of eight essays and a dissertation ( Li J. and Schmit N., 2009).Were the questions used in the survey or interview well-designed in terms of the standards discussed in the chapter? There were research questions used in the survey which were well articulated as they were focused and precise on the topic and subject under study (Li J.

and Schmit N., 2009).How were the data analyzed? If open-ended questions were used, does the researcher describe how they were analyzed and coded?Data was analyzed qualitatively by use of description and statistically where lexical written discourse was analyzed on their appropriate use and level of confidence in their use (Li J. and Schmit N., 2009). How were the data presented? If the study includes numerical data, how were .they reported, is the standard deviation reported?Data was in the form of descriptions, charts, and tables.

There was the use of percentages and where numerals were used to portray progressive mastery of lexical phrases over the course of an academic year (Li J. and Schmit N., 2009). What conclusions were drawn? Are they justified in light of the data presented?The acquisition of lexical phrases as a result of the utilization of available learning resources whereby academic reading materials were the most influential. This justified whereby the use of lexical phrases led sometimes to overuse and the course instructors provided relevant aid materials (Li J.
