Differentiation enables a teacher to deal with the specific interests of each individual student by applying an effective model of academic intervention to their learning procedure. This will enable the teacher teach much easily, as well as enable the learner grasp what he or she is being taught much faster.
This is unlike a blanket application of the same process or procedure of learning to all the students with an expectation that they will grasp the learning curve with the same speed. This reading supports my professional skills, knowledge, as well as understanding as a practicing teacher. As I embark in every class to teach, I do not consider all students in my classroom to be in the same category. This is because I am cognizant of the fact that some students are fast learners whilst others are slow learners. On the other hand, some students are geniuses; others are average, while others are blunt stupid. However, all these students need an education. it is my duty to teach them all to understand and gain some valuable knowledge for their future endeavors as a teacher. Consequently, I apply the differentiation concept in my teaching approach to each individual student in order to improve his or her learning experience.
The first chapter provokes a general question to the way learning occurs in classrooms. Some students fail because of the lack of application of an appropriate differentiation mechanism by their teachers during learning (Souse & Tomlinson, 2011).
On the other hand, mindset refers to the assumptions, expectations, as well as beliefs that provide guidance to our behaviors as well as our interactions with others. As such, the mindset of an individual determines his or her learning capabilities.
