This phase identifies system objectives, functional requirements, and the existing system definition and configuration designed to counter “a defined threat, reduce vulnerabilities, and control risk. It answers questions like what or who should be protected; why should they be protected; from whom should they be protected against; what level of protection is needed and what are the constraints for having such protective system. State machine diagram for the Alarm system The main aim of the project is to design a home alarm system for the PIC micro-controller, PIC18F2520 which as three ports as well as develop a program which will be simulated as well as debugged. The program that was used in this case was SourceBoost IDE with C program. The first two ports of the micro-controller will be used by the system while the second part will be used by LCD. The home alarm system that has be designed has a siren which will go on once an intruder enters the building for 30 seconds then it goes silence but the right continues flashing until it is reset. The main reason for this is to ensure that one is able to know were there was intrusion after the intruder has left. The alarm system will have sensors of movement as well as touch in the bathroom, sitting room, kitchen, bedrooms, and hallways. The sketch diagram of the alarm system that was designed is shown below, in the sketch diagram it will be noted that there are sensors in the bathroom, sitting room, kitchen, bedrooms, and hallways however, what the diagram fails to show is that the sensors are at both the windows and the doors. In the diagram it will be noted that various components have been incorporated. Figure 1: block diagram An intruder must be detected as soon as possible to prevent the possibility of loosing property. The system has 28 pins which are used in connecting the sensors, lcd and Zone indicator. C program for the PIC Simulation The operational inputs for alarm system are as follows: An alarm will sound if any of the there is unauthorised movement The siren to be made to alert the intrusion . The warning sound should go on when the green light for either user is required to use. Figure 2 : Screenshot showing compile and build. For ease of lab demonstration, in our project we programmed the sensor to turn on when 30s. The output responses are two LED lights, one yellow and one green. One LED assigned to each input sensor. These are controlled by a digital output from the microcontroller as a result of the intrusion or green as an indication that there was intrusion. Our first attempt at running the program we wrote failed, as we had a problem with our power supply. After getting this fixed, the circuit was functioning correctly but the program was not. We found that exiting C program and rebooting our program fixed these problems, and our sensor lights and sound turned on and off when they were supposed to. The effectiveness regarding the proposed alarm system is established through applying the method to both the simulated signals as well as the realistic movement detection signals generally under many different conditions. As such, the results do show that such a alarm system can be an effective system that can be used to determine intrusion. Significantly, it is vital to consider having the knowledge concerning the movement detection in the alarm. In addition, it is important to consider the vital areas like the reliability and safety technicality of the alarm is guaranteed. Furthermore, the trend checking processes are usually associated with various harmonic as well as the stochastic models like the Fourier analysis wavelets as well as correlation techniques are performed. Following this process, movement detection occurs with similar models while considering the relationship that does exist between signals like the parameter estimation, observers, component analysis and parity equations. As a way of facilitating, the detection regarding the wrong moves by users normally a movement at the wrong time is sensed by a sensor and is converted to strong electrical signals are converted into digital signals and pre-conditioned response is given in form of sound. Considering the preconditioning, the signals are normally comprised of processes like of anti-alias filtering as well a pre-amplifying. Ultimately, the collected information is then recorded into a known memory for future reference and can be used for other calculations. As a matter of fact, there are present inventions that have been utilized when it comes to sensing movements hence calculating particular sets of parameters regarding the direction of movement. Additional feature The additional features that will be added will be 3 by 4 matrix keypad with 12 buttons as well as a buzzer to provide an alarm sound when human movement is detected. A modem will also be connected in order to provide a means of sending and receiving data from a mobile network within the compound. A modem will be connected to the microcontroller and it is shown in the diagram below; Figure 3: Keypad Each sensor will require Intrusion detection system which will be located at the entrance to the room. The alarm system will use on and off circuit system thus relying on continuous flow of power which is also activates the flash intrusion occurs. Meaning the alarm will go off whenever an intruder comes in. In a closed system, the sensor is used to block off the electrical current, meaning the alarm will go off whenever the current is able to flow through the circuit. Testing and compilation The following is the compilation of the program The connection of the alarm and is shown below. Detection of unauthorised movement is the proactive step for preventing the loss of property within the home. Therefore the alarm will go on to alert the user that there was intrusion and the intruder that he is being monitored. The use of movement detector, sound detector, and automated valves with sensors can detect the intrusion. The user should be immediately act. This means that there are number of offset sources which include, amplifier, and sensor, this also acts as voltage follower. At times in circuits, currents periodically change direction. An ac power supply periodically reverses the polarity of its flow. Adding the LCD using 4 bit mode with appropriate messages displayed. The following LCD has been added to the to the system using 4-bit mode with appropriate messages to displayed. The diagram below shows the LCD with necessary pins. This LCD has 14 Pins whose description is shown below; In order to install the above LCD using 4-bit mode, a sequence is followed to enable data to be sent in two nibbles that is the lower nibble and lower nibble. The following LCD sequence is followed; Once connected it will have the following structure and message displayed as shown; The screenshot above shows a LCD that has been added to the system and displys message Disarmed. The LCD is used to contain a message from the five rooms installed with the alarm. Even if the intruder escapes from the rooms the LCD should be able to dsplay the area the intruder visited.
