Student’s Name Systems Design Assessment Institution Name Tutor’s Name Date 1. Introduction This assessment requires a simple design of interface hardware for a lift, with a program to operate it. There are two categories of requirement in this case, being hardware and software requirements. The objective of this task is to create an interface between the hardware and the software to simulate the actual operation of a physical lift. There will be software, hardware and the power system, in which it will be necessary to control the power at the input and output areas of the system. 1.1. Software: We require the C compiler program found in Visual Studio 6.0, a CAD design program such as Visio, Microsoft office applications for documentation and Adobe acrobat application. 1.2. Hardware Among the hardware equipment, we require the existing Lift incomplete equipment and a logic design of programmable microcomputer equipment. Part of the hardware will also include electricity supply unit and the Light Emitter Diodes for the support of power supply in the microcomputer circuitry. 2. Hardware Design The hardware of the lift control unit is a complete system with the input and output sensors which typically form the lift system. The lift unit has a sensory area, a door, a winch, an analogue signal unit, relay circuit for closing and opening the doors or stopping and starting the lift movement as well as moving upside and down side of the lift. The hardware also has points of connection to the software and display systems for showing the response of the lift to power supply as well as the response of the lift to the instruction applied to its process. Just like in a typical lift system, the relay circuit controls when the door should open and close, move up and down and also begin and stop. One of the events important events involves the pressing of the floor button by the passenger, with the arrow indicating up and down directions. The input and output sensors have to undergo configuration to be able to respond to the subroutines of the program and operate the entire lift system moving from one floor to another. 2.1. Mechanism of the design function The subroutine initiates the actions of the digital to analogue converters (DAC) and the output and input ports to take relevant actions and return feedback through the output units. The user selects the required button, by simply selecting an option. The buttons then call the relevant subroutines for the selected action. The ADC locates the various positions of the lift determines whether it should move downwards or upwards. Below is the design of the lift system and the related components, how it links to the subroutine to respond to the instructions. 2.2. IC Types and values The Types of IC numbers and types for the lift system are listed below together with the voltage limits that they use. Series Type Number Voltage E E65788 12 to 68KVolt EC EC69976 Low voltage EAA EAA90 12 to 40KVolt EA Latching EA238 12 to 40KVolt E Multipole E6549 70 to 300KVolt E E5436 12 o 69 KVolt 3. Program 3.1. Description of the program The program is written in C language and has been split into different test segments for the lift. The program assumes that at one point the lift is not powered. It thus enables the user t power the lift and then get various options for the functionality of the lift. First, the program allows the user to decide on whether he or she is opening or closing the lift. Once the lift opening has been initiated, the lift display system shows a message “Door Opening” corresponding to the instruction. Once the door has open, the user can select the option of the intended floor number by just pressing the specific button from the menu, showing the floor number. The lift then issues a message showing the floor to which the user is moving to for example, if the user presses 7, the lift issues a message: “Lift Moving to Seventh Floor”. The lift then takes the user back to the main menu for selecting the appropriate menu option. Since the program is about the basic operation of a lift, this menu serves as an appropriate simulation for various subroutines that a lift system implements. It assumes the exact functioning mode of a lift and the call for various subroutines are implemented through the choices from the main menu of the program. The decision as to whether the delays or not is however not taken into consideration. However, at any instant, the user can decide on which function to select from the menu, prompting the lift system to decide on which subroutine to call. 3.2. Source Code #include using namespace std; int main () { // local variable declaration: short choice; int startend; cout Read More
