? The Use of Rhetorical Patterns in a Research Study Literature Review The article, “Rhetorical properties of Arabic researcharticle introductions” focuses on establishing the rhetorical patterns and properties via the CARS model, which was invented by Swales. Therefore, the model will enable other researchers to understand the variations of Arabic introductions, and the effects of their organizations towards the establishment of hybrid rhetorical structures (Fakhri, 2004). The second article, “Research article introductions in English for specific purposes: A comparison between Brazilian Portuguese and English” highlights on the salient organizations of rhetorical presentations concerning the Brazilian and Portuguese learning English studies with immense correlations with Applied Linguistics. The study further incorporates the use of Swales’ 1990 CARS Model with a perception that the analytical tool used upon the evaluation process of 20 articles would indicate the precise introductions in the study subjects (Hirano, 2009). The third article, “Rhetorical variation in Arabic academic discourse: Humanities versus law” concentrates mainly on the introduction of genre variations in Arabic articles concerning humanities and law. The research further seeks to define the abundance of the use of rhetorical variations through the genre analysis approach. The fourth study article, “Research article introductions in Chinese and English: A comparative genre-based study” seeks to emulate the established rhetorical variations on English and Chinese articles, and their introductions to the discipline of educational psychology through the adoption of the framework move analysis (Loi, 2010). Lastly, the fifth article of study, the “Analysing Genre: Research Article Introductions in Economics” enables scholars to undertake precise surveys prior to the establishment of genre analysis in research articles’ introductions (Fakhri, 2008). Mainly, the article engages researchers on evaluating the introductions of rhetoric variations in economics. Therefore, the study seeks to establish the key significant variables and approaches towards analyses of rhetorical introductions in different types of scholarly articles. Abstract The discussion shall evaluate the articles’ importance to readers since the research shall show the writers’ engagement on varied types of studies ranging from academic to economic journals. In order to derive an understanding of the salient correlation of the subject in the journals to the CARS model, the study shall denote the literature review, methodologies used, and later on to establish the results. Further, there is profound evidence that would some of the authors find success in their work through the accounting of informative articles from different journals with a close observation on how each of the acquired articles would reflect positively to the CARS model. The research methodology The organization of financial articles introductions and the application of the CARS model The articles compound contrastive information through empirical surveys and the application of exploratory surveys. The financial and economic articles embrace different approaches of the model. Analytically, the survey seeks to emulate the inert information of the adapted genres through the application of exploratory approaches (Loi, 2010). Arguably, the articles may be used on a future date to bolster researches comprising multilingual aspects. Further, the articles are ideal for evaluating the rhetoric introductions shown in numerous financial and economic journals (p.269). Essentially, the comparative approach of evaluating the financial journals shall seek to elevate the application of the CARS model therein. However, the writers sort to use the analytical approach as a means of justifying the inert proposals of the researches, they fail to correlate the former journal materials to Swale’s study. The survey seeks to evaluate several journals from National Bureau of Economics and SciDirect, which also use exploratory designs and empirical models. Most important in the study is the determination of the articles’ use of rhetoric introduction. Gilchrist, (1998) and Levine, (2004) on “Investment Fundamentals and Finance,” and “Finance and Growth: Theory and Evidence” from the National Bureau of Economics aim at delivering the financial purpose of the articles to economists in addressing numerous issues in the environment (p.26). The former author is precise towards the establishment of the territory as he declares the 25% raise in the expansionary rate of investment (Ismail & Xianhua, 2013). Therefore, the article disintegrates its options into the use CARS model by declaring its purpose and choice of territory for example, the sample frame (p.1238). Levine follows suit and declares that his study purports to review financial and economic systems. A close revision into the highlighted articles establishes varied and intense differences, and it is predictable that each of the articles differs broadly in its adoption of different analytical frameworks. For instance, the first two articles establish the application of CARS model, which was founded by Swales in his bid to acquaint other researchers with profound evaluation methodologies in deciphering knowledgeable information, and the controversies borne in articles in the process of establishing contrastive rhetoric patterns. Fig.1 rhetorical introductions’ depictions based on different nations Fig.2 graph showing rhetorical introductions’ evaluation process Fig.3 shows the orientation of rhetorical introductions Table.1: Distribution of reader orientation exponents in RA introductions Introductions with purpose and structure Introductions with purpose only Introductions with structure only Introductions With neither Humanities 3 (6%) 30 (60%) 3 (6%) 14 (28%) Law 29 (58%) 7 (14%) 8 (16%) 6 (12%) The results of the study The survey results showing future implications that might result from further research The ten articles establish the application of the CARS (Create a Research Study) model in evaluating scholarly and non-academic journals from different cultural backgrounds while seeking to analyze different economic perspectives. The authors of the articles reveal abundant application of hybrid rhetorical structures thus challenging financial authors on the use of rhetoric introductions. Arguably, the writers slightly fail to account for the articles’ adequacy in establishing the usage of Swale’s model since it is only a few articles out of the compounded majority that embrace the model. Tense results of Lakic on distribution of tenses across disciplines, for instance, show significance different according to the following table. Table 1: Lakic’s results showing difference from the results of Swales and Shaw Tense Swales Shaw Lakic’s Results Present Simple 2.38% 17.58% 55% Past Simple 78.57% 51.05% 14.5% Present Perfect 19.5% 31.39% 30.5% Source: (Lakic, 2010) Critically, the articles establish territories and niches, and further adapt a model of occupying them. Lastly, the authors use exploratory approaches with incorporation to the CARS model by Swale in defining the discourse of economic genres in accounting for the actual research information amassed during the surveys. The study by Simon Johnson reveals the establishment of the private investment patterns, and the limitations enforced by financiers. By choosing investment environment as the territory and the private sector as the niche, the author fully occupies the investment field. Compared to the other articles, the authors that presented the financial articles seem precise in establishing the purposes of their research surveys to the audience (Campbell, 2006). Arguably, the writers’ adoption of the CARS model enables accounting of the different financial aspects. The researchers intensify their evaluation into the financial journals. The intense evaluation into the establishment of contextual research analysis of the articles depicted that the writer majored his focus on his personal opinions. Critically, the survey intensified its focus on booking several genres and contexts from different writers. The continued exploratory surveys into the diverse financial journals led to the accreditation that some of them correlated in the accounted information (Fiore & Uhlig, 2011). Arguments are that the articles diversely differed in the adoption of the CARS model. Therefore, the research undertaken in evaluating the articles succeeded to derive information that all the journal contexts comprised in each of the articles failed to correlate as required towards the inclusion of the CARS model. Conclusion Analytically, the survey seeks to emulate the inert information of the adapted genres through the application of exploratory approaches in financial articles (Dobre, 2013).The articles used in the research relate closely in the dissemination of information in various genres and linguistic basis. Abundantly, the researcher sort to use the journal articles as a mode of informing other researchers on literature and the differences that each presents whenever related to the CARS model (Mizen &Tsoukas, 2012). The researchers excel in their application of the CARS model in determining their research purposes through the application of theoretical and empirical frameworks. Therefore, it is essentially vital for the writer to redress the articles, and account for them in relation to the model while ensuring that the majority of the study samples in each of the article allows for integration to the CARS model.
