Working at McDonald’s Part It is true that working as a and more so in a fast food chain like McDonald’s, isextremely difficult for student life. This is because a great percentage of students cannot balance their school and work life; thus, attain poor results in their school work. I concur with the authors’ thoughts that students should not work in such food chains, as the experience gained adds very little to their career development (Axelrod & Cooper 260-5). Though the students get good ideas on how to manage their finances at a tender age as Axelrod & Cooper write, the time spent on study work is minimized and the students stand to lose more than gain (260-5).

Part 2 The information from Schlosser’s work complements that of Axelrod & Cooper. Schlosser explains how McDonald’s employs many supervisors to closely monitor the staff members (141). The author also explains how easy it is for an employee’s contact to be terminated at any time (Schlosser 141). Simply put, perfect work is expected from the employees of the renowned food chain. From these findings, it is evident that students working in this food chain would have very little time for their leisure let alone time for their studies.

The students will also be forced to put much effort to please their supervisors. All these activities consume their study time. Schlosser’s compilation, therefore, complements Axelrod & Cooper’s arguments that though working students may earn extra money, they lose a lot in their studies.
