Response to Zombie Videos - Movie Review Example

The zombie trend is a bit deeper and more cerebral than most individuals might assume it to be. For instance, rather than merely expressing a view of horrific throngs of monsters, desperately longing for human flesh, the “zombie culture”, if indeed it can be called that, is something of a rebuke of modern society. As individuals live increasingly within the shell of modernism and encapsulated within their own world, the zombie threat, or the idea that they may be disturbed and jolted out of the comfort and convenience of the Facebook and 9-5 world is especially interesting and has captured the attention and imagination of people in ways that few other trends have.

For instance, the first 4 minutes of the show called Warm Bodies, depicts a young zombie imagining what life might have been like prior to everyone becoming a total zombie. The quick flashback reveals large groups of people moving through the same halls that he traverses; yet, even though these individuals within his imagination are “normal”, they are all consumed by the tablets, laptops, and cell phones that they are viewing and typing on. This level of tacit comparison is both humorous and largely telling of the way in which modern society operates.

Ultimately, the realization that is conjured is one in which the zombies of our generation are firmly in front of us; however, we are either too dull or too dimwitted to care about it.
