It is one of the renowned and reputed countries of Middle East region. Doha is the capital of Qatar. Qatar has a population of more than 1,448,000 with more than 5% growth. There is constitutional monarchy in Qatar, where executives are the council of ministers and legislative is within the advisory council and the judiciary is independent. Qatar government is a fully centralized government and has seven municipalities. Economy Oil has been the foundation of Qatar’s economy in 1990s and accounts to 62% of the total revenue of the government. In the year of 1973, Qatar’s oil production and income increased and contributed towards the development of the country. In the year of 2007, per capita income of Qatar was approximately $ 67,000 and was ranked fifth highest all over the world. Economy of Qatar took a downturn from the mid of 1990. Quotas of oil production, decrease in prices of oil and decrease in earnings in the global market affected the economy of the nation. That is why the government of Qatar cut on allocated plans to equal the lessened income. Due to this recessionary period, the local firms abort the expatriate. In late 1990, economy grew with the population again. Oil production in the year of 2007 was approximately 835,000 bpd and was expected to mount 1.1 million bpd by the year of 2009. Taking the current production assess, oil reserves are assumed to last more than 40 years. Qatar’s gas supply is the third largest globally, more than 900 trillion cubic feet which is 14% of the total supply of gas. Iran and Qatar shares the biggest single unassociated gas field in the nation i.e. the North Field. Nation’s biggest manufacturer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has the capacity of more than 31 million metric tonnes p.a. and assumes to mount 77.5 million metric tonnes p.a. by 2010. In the year of 1991 after the completion of $ 1.5 billion Stage, North Field gas strongly elevated the economy of Qatar. Qatar supplied LNG to Japan in the year of 1996. Qatar ended up with the agreement with U. A. E of exporting gas through pipelines to the countries like Italy, U.S, Turkey, India, Taiwan, etc and also to United Kingdom through ships. Qatar’s government has stopped for further increase of production of gas till 2010, and accounts for the plans of exploiting the field in future. Qatar’s NGL and the related industries are situated at Ras Laffan. Ras Laffan is a commercial city and the nation’s biggest supplier of LNG with more than 31 million metric tons per annum. Qatar’s heavy industries are located at Messaieed, which also includes a refinery having a capacity of 140,000 bpd, a steel plant, a plant of fertilizer and a plant of petrochemicals. All of these companies utilize gas as fuel. Most of them are joint ventures in between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and companies from Europe, United States and Japan. The main supplier of equipments for Qatar’s oil and gas industry is United States and they are assisting to develop the gas, oil and petrochemical sections. Qatar’s economic growth rate is amazing as the apparent GDP was about $ 63.8 billion in the year of 2007 and recently increased by about 15%. Rate of growth in 2007 was 12.5%. Per capita GDP in 2007 was about $ 67,000 and expected soon to be at the acme all over the nation. The strategy of Qatar’s government is to use its wealth to achieve more income by changing the economy beyond hydrocarbons. Qatarization is pursued by the government of Qatar, in which all the companies of joint ventures and the departments of government aim to shift the people of Qatar in the position of authority. Qataris those who are educated from abroad which include educated Qataris from United States, are returning back to their home country to hold the positions from the expatriates’. This is to control the inflow of foreign nationals in Qatar. Qatar intensified the inflow of foreign resource programs over the years. Qatar maintains tight and strict entry with the immigrations guidelines (Government of U.S, “Background Note: Qatar”). Tourism Qatar promotes the tourist sector and is equipped with the needed facilities and profits to move with the growth of the different economic sectors. It organises and widens the policies of tourism and promotes the growth of tourist sectors and services in the country and abroad (Government of Qatar, “Tourism”). Qatar’s main cities like Al Wakrah, Ras Laffan, Shahaniya, Alkhor, etc attracts tourist. Alkhor is in the north of Qatar, 57 km from Doha. It is known for its port and pearl fishing. Its museum had precious archaeological pieces and past towers are some of the historical objects. Al Wakrah is a commercial and fishing hub. It is known for its pictorial mosques and fishing harbour (Government of Qatar, “Major Cities”). Qatar’s main tourist attractions can be undermined as follows: Al Gharriyya Resort - It is situated in the waterfront of Al Gharriyya, which lies in north. It consists of comfortable villas, swimming pool and other facilities. Sealine Beach Resort - It is located 55 km away from Doha. It supports facilities like huge and various ranges of rooms with villas and bungalows accompanied with various types of sporting facilities and other activities. Zoo - It is 20 kilometres away from the capital city. It has a different collection of animals with reptiles and birds. It also has a tiny amusement park for the children. Dahl El Hamam Public Park - It is in Khhalifa Al Shamalia. It is a park for public and consists of lawns with passages and a playground dedicated to the children. Al Jassasiya - It comprises of a range of rocky hills. It is known for the stone sculpting and engraving of the historical pieces. Almaha Sanctuary - It is developed to protect Al Maha, the imperil desert antelope. (Government of Qatar, “Tourist Attractions”). Qatar’s tourist attraction also includes numerous museums and forts like that of: Islamic Arts Museum - It is situated at Doha’s coastal road. It consists of rare collection of Islamic objects along with a library, educational sectors and a versatile hall. Weaponry Museum - It shows unique sample of daggers, firearms and other accessories. It is situated in suburb regions of Doha. Ethnographic Museum - It is located in Grand Hamad Street. It is the last construction of the ancient Doha. Doha Fort (Al Koot) - It is located in Jassim Bin Mohammed Street. It is one of the remnants of military forts at Doha. Al Wajba Fort - It is located 15 km away from Doha, to the south direction. In 1893, the famous battle in between Qatar and the Ottoman forces was held at this fort. Likewise, other forts and museum are also included in tourists’ attraction. They are Qatar’s national museum, Al Khor museum, Al wakrah museum, Al zubara fort, Umm Salal Muhammad fort and Burzan towers (Government of Qatar, “Major Museums and Forts”). Qatar’s promotes the tourists sector, so they have hotels and resorts which provide with all the facilities and also promotes the culture and the tradition of the Qataris. Among some of the renowned hotels and resorts, prominent are Ritz Carlton Hotel, Qatar National Hotel Company, Fareeq Sharq Hotel and Resort, Doha Gran Hyatt Hotel, Doha Intercontinental Hotel, Grand Regency Hotel, Al Sultan Hotel and Resorts, etc. Qatar also provide quite a few recreational clubs such as The Diplomatic Club, Doha Golf Club, Equestrian Club, and Al Ghazal Club among others (Government of Qatar, “Hotels and Clubs”). Tourist can avail restaurants at Qatar. There are various Arabic, Asian, Western restaurants and cafe where the tourists can have dishes of their choice. They also display the traditions and heritage of Qatar. Some of them are Al Batross, Assaha Restaurant, Al Shatir Abbas, Bukhara, La Veranda and Al Bateel (Government of Qatar, “Restaurants”). Tourists who visit Qatar are provided with a list of important numbers to communicate other emergency services like that of hospital, airport, limousine and banking (Government of Qatar, “Other Services”). Education Guidelines of education in Qatar are considered with respect to the heritage and people’s conservativeness. It primarily aims at developing the school curriculum with the upcoming technology and education. Qatar Government provides free education to all of the citizens and also formulates guidelines of compulsory education up to the elementary stage. The basic education includes three stages namely Elementary Stage of 6 years followed by Preparatory Stage of 3 years and Secondary Stage of 3 years. Qatar consists of 113 elementary schools, 56 Preparatory schools and 41 secondary schools. Government of Qatar has also contributed private education with books, health services and water along with quality teachers. They also look up to the higher education programs like literacy and adult education. Special education for mentally challenged students was opened separately for boys and girls. Scientific secondary schools were also inaugurated to increase the standards of the education with new techniques and strategy. An institute of language is also established to improve the standards of languages like Arabic, French as well as English. Department of training and vocational development was introduced to develop the workforce for the country’s requirement in the field of school’s secretarial work and office. Qatar’s university delegate degree related to bachelor’s degree at all college levels and post graduate degrees in the university. All programs are based on credit hour system. Qatar Foundation is a non - profitable organisation for science, education and research and is a development organisation. It is a private institute, which aims for long term sustaining economy by introducing Qatar as a leader in inventions, research and education. Three important pillars of this foundation are science, education and research along with community development. Supreme Education Council of Qatar develops and implements education reform system. An institute of college advises the students about their careers and also about the opportunities for higher education in Qatar as well as abroad and look after the grants and also scholarships. They had also thought of introducing new post – secondary education and career development institute for better studies at colleges and thereon in Qatar or abroad (Embassy of Qatar, “Basic Education”). Conclusion Qatar provides all basic facilities for the Qataris, Expatriates’ and the tourists. Export of oil and natural gas had raised the economy of Qatar.
