This paper offers a concrete presentation of a model of Six Sigma approach to management of health care quality for American hospitals operating within the country and abroad. On the other hand, this research article offers a basis of understanding and meeting patients’ needs in health care organization. Apparently, this can assist in improvement of patient outcome and sustain organization’s competitiveness through reduction of cost and improving the quality of health care services (Bandyopadhyay & Coppens, 2005).

This research article explores Six Sigma as a relatively new approach to management of quality in health care industry; in fact, this presents numerous opportunities to be explored. Moreover, this research article entails a qualitative research, which involves participants, who are patients or prospective patients as members of a team on Six Sigma project (Crago, 2000). In this case, the paper offers a perspective, which is contributive in determination of the patients’ needs and expectations for the quality of health care services offered in the organization.

Review of "Application of MBNQA for service quality management and performance in healthcare organizations" by Sunil D’Souza1 and A.H. Sequeira This research article focuses on assessment of the relationship between qualities of management dimensions, which include quality management, and patient service quality, and the influence on performance in hospitals. Apparently, D’Souza1 and Sequeira (2011) argues that organization offering health care services expected to widen their assessment of quality form the traditional perspective, which is organizational oriented to dual organization and customer perspective.

This research article entails a quantitative research with a methodology which is aimed at establishing a test model of service quality management and performance that is based on an integrated perspective. In this case, this research applies MBNQA (MalcolmBaldrige National Quality Award) benchmarks along with the grounded theory. These approaches are utilized in assessment of healthcare quality offered to patients both internally and externally in healthcare organizations. On the other hand, this research article offers an aligned study of both internal and external services quality, which facilitates acquisition of holistic perception towards quality management and performance in heath care institutions.

In this case, this perception is based on the internal and external perspective of customers. Results of the study in this paper indicate that health care organization has a good performance based on the criteria of MBNQA. Apparently, this study is a reinforcement of services quality management and performance based on application of MBNQA criteria in health care organizations. The paper offers an examination of theoretical models’ influence on the quality management dimensions and the patient service quality on performance.
