?Assignment #4 INTRODUCTION With the increasing rate of population, the need for introducing as well as developing pediatrics program is growing at arapid rate as people are more concerned with the overall well-being as well as physical health beginning from birth stage till adolescence phase of their child (Desai 1-867). The core aim of this report is to provide details about different measures that need to be taken into concern while expanding pediatrics program throughout different hospitals of United Hospital Network (UHN). Moreover, the determination of the individuals who should be involved in discussing proposals concerning the expansion of pediatrics program and different sorts of information that would be in the final recommendation to the governing board of UHN will be discussed. WHICH TYPES OF MEASUREMENTS WILL BE IMPORTANT IN THE DECISION? A pediatrics program in a hospital can be duly considered to be one of the vital parts of any healthcare organization as extensive amount of surveillance and proper guidelines need to be followed. In this similar concern, the different sorts of measurements that would be important for UHN in making the decision of expanding pediatrics program throughout all of its different hospitals have been discussed hereunder. Demand for service: It is regarded as the quantity that a buyer will be willing to buy products or service at a certain price. Therefore, it can be stated that the initial measure which needs to be taken into concern is to estimate the demand for service i.e. the total number of customers who are in need of such services i.e. of pediatrics related services (Griffith and White 1-553; Brown and Miller 1-649). For instance, the demand for service relating to UHN might include the daily visit of the patients to the hospital and the sort of services that are to be provided to the customers or the clients. Cost: The second measure which would be important in the decision of expanding a pediatrics program is to estimate the costs that are incurred to set up the proposed unit. Estimation of the cost will include certain significant factors that need to be taken into concern in order to successfully build/setup pediatrics program. For instance, relating to UHN, the costs may comprise total direct cost hours on assigned projects, consultancy cost and data along with information purchase cost among others (Griffith and White 1-553). Outcome quality: It is often viewed to be the measurement of the difference of annual forecast with the actual performance. In this step, forecasting of accuracy in planning, counts of project completed and the projects that achieved the expected goal can be an important measurement for UHN in the decision of expanding its pediatrics program (Griffith and White 1-553). For instance, outcome quality associated with UHN can be assessed in terms of measuring the actual performance of the hospital while delivering its effective services to the patients. Client satisfaction: The existence of an organization depends especially upon its customer or client satisfaction. In the final step of measurement i.e. client satisfaction, surveys are conducted to measure user’s satisfaction and planning is done accordingly in order to reap significant benefits. Problems or negative aspects are recognized and effective solutions are provided to solve the problems. Customer feedback plays an important role in this particular measurement impacting the decision of UHN concerning its expansion of pediatrics program throughout different hospitals (Griffith and White 1-553). For instance, relating to UHN, deliverance of proper as well as effective services would help in raising the satisfaction level of the patients by a greater level. WHO SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN DISCUSSING PROPOSALS AND WHY? Adopting and implementing steps to expand a program for a particular healthcare organization requires consultation from both internal as well as external professionals. In this regard, the function of internal consultation is conducting broad operation analysis, revealing the availability of logistic support in case of emergency, accessibility of total human resource, financial condition and marketing strategy. It can be often viewed that large healthcare organizations hire statistical and industrial engineers in the form of internal consultants for the purpose of making any valuable decision. On the other hand, external consultants are regarded as those people or individuals who provide adequate information that are required to conduct an overall study like the determination of logistic facility, demand of the customers and need of the products or the services (Griffith and White 1-553). Thus, UHN can involve both external along with internal consultants along with the senior officials in discussing the proposals of expanding pediatrics program throughout its different hospitals. INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE IN THE FINAL RECOMMENDATION TO THE GOVERNING BOARD It can be affirmed from a broader outlook that the expansion of a pediatrics program requires adequate amount of study and need to be critically examined concerning every significant aspect like determining operational costs, investments and manpower among others. It is worth mentioning that a broad description of the demand of the service i.e. the pediatrics program and the percentage of the people who supports or who are ready to invest money in expanding such program are certain vital information that would be in the final recommendation to the governing board. Furthermore, an estimation of the overall scenario based on the demand as well as the amount invested to setup or expand the program, and an overview of the satisfaction level of the customers or the clients would also be involved in the final recommendation to the governing board by a greater level (Griffith and White 1-553). The aforesaid information would be quite critical to the board of UHN as these would govern them towards making effective decision concerning expanding of pediatric programs throughout different hospitals. CONCLUSION From the overall analysis, it can be affirmed that there pertain certain significant factors or measurements like cost, outcome quality and client satisfaction among others which are quite important for UHN to expand its pediatrics program successfully. It can be affirmed that the engagement of both external along with internal consultants in discussing the proposal would be quite favorable for UHN at large. The different kind of information such as the satisfaction level of the clients and the amount to be invested in expanding pediatrics program would be in the final recommendation to the governing board of UHN making them quite aware about the future implications of making such valuable decision i.e. expanding pediatric programs throughout its different hospitals.
