Stress factors among college specification, what problems can cause pregnancy on college : Introduction It is true that students do face a lot of stress and stressing factors while in college. This stress factor is a significant phenomenon as it is highly partially responsible for the many highly unexpected percentages of college students’ dropout from school. Past researches seeking to establish the prevalence of stress and causes of stress to college students present empirical evidence of shocking statistics on the subject of stress for college students. However, the high dropout rate, related to the stressing issue of pregnancy that this research proposal seeks to evaluate. The subject of pregnancy affects largely female population. However, it also affects the males accordingly where they are responsible for such pregnancies, causing them intense stress. Thus, with this realization, this research proposal seeks to establish the problems that result in the pregnancy cases in college students. Literature review College life according to past studies into the subject indicates that college life is increasingly getting competitive. Consequently, the process of getting into school is expensive and hard, resulting to the anxiety of having to balance the aspects of class work, tests, projects, curricula activities and significantly, the social life of the students (Baker, 2007, p 56). Various social stressful factors translate into the college life for the young adults who seek to expand their opportunities as they gather knowledge. The past studies in the review focused on establishing the prevalence and rates of pregnancy in college students. These findings indicate that unplanned pregnancies are a worrying trend in the colleges. Additionally, other studies relate the increased rates of abortion to the high rate of college students getting unwanted pregnancies. Thus, they turn to abortion to eliminate the unwanted stressful condition. There is little knowledge of the problems that drive these highly intelligent young people, who are in their prime in pursuing their careers into the developed issue of pregnancy in college. The suggested and known issue that most people blame as the problem causing these pregnancies in the confines of the college facilities is promiscuity and factors of peer pressure to experiment in certain life practices (Baker, 2007, p 56). However, in view of the magnitude of the issue at hand, these factors cannot be the only contributing problems to the effect of the rising pregnancy cases even in the wake of advanced scientific and technological techniques for addressing such topics. Thus, the problems relating to the issue of pregnancy in college students remain extensive and profound in the society or the students themselves. Thus, this proposition seeks to establish the body of knowledge that will aid in addressing the concerns of the community of students, education facilitators and parents of the students regarding the issue of pregnancy in the college girls. The knowledge from the findings will help in developing highly intensive structures and procedures for addressing the issue of pregnancy in college students as a leading stressing factor. Research objective The research proposal seeks to establish from data gathered the problems leading to the factor of pregnancy in college students. Further, it will evaluate the intensity of the problems in relation to the stresses the college students experience in the course of their studies. This will borrow from the understanding of the literature that past researches concentrate on the rates of pregnancy as an issue rather than its causative agents. Thus, while proceeding with this proposal, the approach entirely basis on evidence and collection of relevant data. The hypothesis is that the peer pressure, stress from studies and curiosity to experiment are among the leading problems resulting in the cases of unplanned pregnancies in college students. Methodology In conducting the procedures of data gathering, analysing and presentation, the appropriate approach for this study is qualitative research methodology. Qualitative methodology seeks to evaluate research topics that evaluate, describe, and create understanding of the ideas, beliefs, experiences and values. It focuses on intangibles as relates to the topic in discussion (Tracy, 2013, p 14). Thus, considering the topic seeks to evaluate the issue from the analytical perspective of qualitative data, this method will be crucial to unravelling the topic. In collecting the empirical data to use, the methods to apply for the process include the use of interviews, administering questionnaires and literature review of past publications and researches. The interview will help facilitate face-to-face discussions on the topic with the subjects in study (Lindlof & Taylor, 2011, p 90). There will be interviews for the college students, both male and females. Additionally, there will be interviews with the tutors and education facilitators such as the professors as well as the parents of such students to facilitate their views on the issues in the topic. The questionnaires administered will incorporate an open-ended section and a closed question form, in which the subjects of the study will record their views. In the process of analyzing the data, qualitative analysis will help remarkably in identifying the issues there will be a critical review of the responses gathered from the process of data collection (Silverman, 2004, p 63). Further, statistical findings of the prevalence of given reasons contributing in the issue will apply. Thus, from the analysis and discussion of the information gathered, the study will establish findings. The findings presentation incorporates use of tables to indicate the prevalence of certain factors (Marshall & Rossman, 2011, p 78). Additionally, there will be prose reports compiled on the subject and discussing the results accordingly. From these procedures, the study will establish its hypothesis and achieve the objectives of the proposal. Limitations In conducting the research process, the likely factors to limit the study include aspects of budget management. This is because the study is intensive and will incorporate a vast number of subjects. Secondly, the issue of unwilling, non-responsive and dishonest subjects will also prove notable, as the topic in discussion is sensitive. De-limitations In mitigating the expected limitations, the study planning and execution will limit its workforce and innovate accordingly to facilitate procedures for managing the budget constrain. Further, there will be extensive preparation of the subjects psychologically, provision of privacy assurance for the subjects and facilitation of voluntary participation to avert the possibility of dishonest and non-responsive subjects (Hennink, Hutter & Bailey, 2011, p 90). Resources Schedule and Budget The study seeks to evaluate data from vast subjects in different locations. It will feature students from seven different colleges within the country. Further, the participants drawn will consist of gender balance, with an equal number of males and females participating. Therefore, the expected schedule for the research from the start of data collection, it will take two weeks for collecting data. Additionally, one week for analyzing the data and preparing reports and findings reports of the results. Thus, the entire study will last for an entire month. In budget terms, the schedule incorporates pay for the facilitators of the research process, acquiring of necessary material such as papers and printing of the questionnaires and interviews. Thus, it will incorporate a lean budget of up to $3,500 in total. Conclusion The research proposal as expected after gathering the findings will make the finding public and recommend as the findings will indicate to the relevant authorities, the measures to address the issue. The recommendations will include possible solutions to the issue as well as further topic for research where necessary. Thus, the qualitative research methodology will guide the proposed research into the topic of problems causing pregnancies in college students.
