This section was pertinent to the study’s objectives, as the researchers stated that “the hockey players’ heart rate was consistently above 85% to 100% of age-predicted heart rate; this finding suggests that the intensity of the exercise would increase participants risk.” Atwal et al (2002). Other research was presented that put the significance of their research into perspective. They also honestly reported some limitations, i.e. “small sample size…lack of a control group…not prespecified or objectively measured, such as limited warm-up and rest periods” Atwal et al (2002). However, the original hypothesis around the increased risk of cardiac events was proved, as effects on the hockey players demonstrated. Because of the results, it would be more sensible, healthy and beneficial for most people to engage in light to moderate exercise. Competitive or recreational team sports may be dangerous for some, but the benefits of walking, jogging, playing golf, gardening, even Yoga or Tai Chi, have all been studied and proved to assist in heart diseases and associated conditions, both in aiding recovery and reducing risks. Moderate exercise such as walking would help to reduce weight and help combat obesity, as well as strengthening bone and building muscle. Though the study examined here did not go into such detail, there is little doubt that the finding supports the idea that, with careful medical supervision when indicated, everyone can benefit from some form of light to moderate exercise, but should take care about partaking in strenuous activity.

This study is being undertaken in order to establish a clear and comprehensive understanding of CHD based on nursing management. Coronary heart diseases are currently one of the major sources of mortality and morbidity. The management of this disease is largely based on the actions of the patient and the interventions of the medical health professionals.
Different people exercise for different reasons and they are to strengthen the muscles, to optimize functioning of the cardiovascular system, to enhance specific athletic skills, to control weight of the body, for the purpose of fun or to win some sports event and to socialize (Christian, Medical NewsToday).
It is caused by several reasons. Diseases that result in deterioration of the heart muscles lead to congestive heart failure. Also, the hardening and thickening of the heart muscles can lead to heart failure. The coronary arteries supplying oxygen concentrated blood to the heart muscles can get narrowed by deposition of fatty materials and because of thrombosis.
For example, people are encouraged to perform exercises to reduce stress and as a measure against obesity. Exercise according to several quarters also helps improve the body’s general functionality thereby helping in reducing the chances of attack by various ailments.
These, when develop in the coronary arteries result in reduction in the luminal blood flow through these arteries (Williams, et al., 2002). Acute or relative reduction in blood flow through these arteries responsible for blood supply for the cardiac muscles would result in absolute or relative deficiency of oxygen and metabolites in the areas supplied by these arteries.
