The patient had already done these tests from some other health institution, after being diagnosed with cancer. The doctor of my organization refused to analyze those test results, questioning its validity, and forced the patient to carry out all the tests again from this hospital. The patient was not pleased by this act of the doctor and his family members reported the case to management. To make the matter worse, the management got aggressive with the patient and his family members and said that to be treated from this hospital, one has to follow whatever is been told.

This all matter augmented the criticality of the case, and the patient left without being treated and later sued the organization for mistreating the patient. The total loss the hospital had to bear due this incident was $26,500. This incident made us realize there is no particular attention paid on the ethical values in the organization, and focus is paid on income generation rather than patient’s interest and loyalty towards them (Zoubul, 2005). The doctor in this case, should have started the treatment procedure after analyzing the test reports, which were authentic and there was no need of retesting of the patient.

It was just a method adopted by the management and staff to extract more money from the patient. The organization needs to change management and staff way of treating patients and considering them a mere source of income. Therefore, it needs to implicate a leadership style that can correct the current mentality and practices prevailing in the organization (Zoubul, 2005). Transformational Leadership Since it is an issue of ethical values and moral conduct, therefore Transformational Leadership is required to make the management and staffs realize the pain and condition of patients.

A transformational leader is the one who leads the entire group together, with the aim of bringing a change and not to get power over others. In this leadership style, the leader acts as a role model and inspires other to follow his words and actions. This is the most important trait of this leadership style as it urges people to follow the leader, without any external force or pressure. Researches show that the transformational leadership style works better with interactive groups, where people are in close coordination with one another (Zervas & Lassiter, 2007).

In transformational leadership style, democratic leadership is adopted rather than autocratic, and people’s perspective and opinions are listened and analyze by the leader, to get a good insight of the issue. Moreover, transformational leadership focuses on steady attainment of change or any desired objective, ensuring that the change remains permanent after being achieved once (Zervas & Lassiter, 2007). In the healthcare environment, transformational leadership style is the most appropriate to put into action and promises greater probability of change (Oliver, 2006, pp. 38-43). In this issue, the organization needs to make the management and workers build a trust relation with patients, and working for patient’s interest.

It is also necessary that the organization has to make a profit, but the management cannot use false ways to earn it. Therefore, the leader will act as a role model for all in presenting how to show good moral character in a
