Extract of sample "Reflections of Philosophers on Political Power"

Baron de Montesquieu argues that to have this liberty, it is requisite that the government be so constituted as one man need not be afraid of another. Again, there is no liberty, if the power of judging is not separated from the legislative and executive powers.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau addresses freedom and aims to explain how a man in the state of nature is blessed with an enviable total freedom. The natural man is physically free because he is not constrained by a repressive state apparatus or dominated by his fellow men. Second, he is psychologically and spiritually free because he is not enslaved to any of the artificial needs that characterize modern society.

These philosophers advocate for the below ideas in common; the idea of liberty to those being governed, a Centralized unit of government, and Rights and freedoms to be entitled to those governed.

The adoption of these philosophies has enhanced good governance, which entitles rights and freedoms to all citizens. It has also propagated international peace and economic development. Those governed have been in the position to know their roles and the role of the government, hence making the nation appreciate political leadership.
