Extract of sample "Future of Military Affairs and Military Theory"

Such technologies as computers, weapons of mass destruction (Nuclear), and missiles were developed as a result of political tension where all the superpowers were competing for supremacy. From this, we can conclude that change in political process and technology is having and will continue to have a considerable impact on war affairs and principles which might result in its revolution.

Since ancient times, principles of war have been defined as a set of guidelines that aid the military in making decisions while on the battlefield. Although these principles are still being applied, they have been considerably revolving due to changing technology and the way people carry out warfare currently. For instance, research conducted recently by the united research center showed that changing nature of war, especially in the Middle East, is generating a corresponding change in tactics and patterns the military is using to archive their objective. ( Claus, 2003)

According to another research, it was outlined that the principles that are revolving and are most likely to change in the future include the principle of simplicity, chase, and unity of command. This is due to advancement in technology that forces the military to change their tactics and patterns. (Knock, 2001) However, even though these principles might change, it is unlikely that new principles will be developed. This is because existing principles have been proven to be most efficient and effective during warfare and only slight adjustment are needed for it to fit in any generation.

Conclusively, war will never be absolute because disagreements among states will always exist and insurgents will never stop propagating it until the day they archive their selfish strategies and goals. The only thing that might change is the approach that the military or States will be using during warfare. Also, advancement in technology will force the military to modify the already existing principles to archive their set objective effectively.

Response to post

In the first post, advancement in technology will indeed lead to new ways in which countries wage war. However, it is not true that it will not lead to an increase in warfare because the advancement of weapons will only make some countries feel superior to others as a result tempting them to try them out. Also being indecisive on whether technology will change or not change is contractive because the subsequent sentences, of the post, prove that these principles have changed. The post did not look at ‘whether new principles will be developed or not’, however, on the question ‘will war be absolute?’, the writer clearly states that according to his opinion, this is impossible because it is not logical that all disputes will be settled on an amicable way.

In the second post, it is clear that these principles have changed and will continue changing. This is because any new technology is usually considered in the military. However, the paper does not look at ‘whether the principles will change’ or ‘whether new ones will be developing’ due to the swiftly changing technologies. The writer mostly concentrates on ‘ whether war will become absolute or not’ therefore proving beyond doubt that this is impossible since there will always be something that will cause humans to wage war either with each other or with those in outer space. Therefore, it can be concluded that even though the post has not answered all the questions effectively, it is still relevant because it offers relevant and sufficient backup evidence.
