It was pure and simple peace and happiness. The Children would play outside their homes all day and then slept cozily at night together with the entire family on the first floor of their homes. Likewise, the corncob log cabin is one of the many proofs that the life was spend tending their farms and feeding the animals. This particular log house was specifically used to hide corncobs for future cooking and eating. Evidently, the Lane’s store exhibit shows how the people of my past bought their daily needs. There is evidently a stark difference between the stores of yesteryears to the air conditioned department stores of today. For, the current department stores are bigger, had more products displayed, had more people elbowing each other as they rush to find their most priced possessions in the department stores and groceries as well. Obviously, many of the current store today have escalators and elevators that give better convenience to the shoppers as compared to the simple one –story stores of yesteryears. Who is the intended audience of the exhibit? The intended audience of the exhibits is the people of the next generation starting with the twentieth century. The locomotive train exhibited in the Heritage Park in McDonough, GA is testament to the hard work and seriously of life of the American people back then. The train shows evidence that people already traveled from one part of the United States to another to expand their business negotiations. For, the trains in the United States now no longer use steam to move forward. Also, the trains of today already use electricity to move forward. Likewise, the trains of today move faster and more safer than the locomotive trains of the nineteenth century. The intended audience of today are coached never to forget the heritage of their past. Yes, all the houses on exhibits were put there to let the future generations of Americans especially in Henry County that we must never forget the past because the past was the means to get to the current fast –paced, highly complex borderless economy that the United States is in today. Who is expected to be persuaded by the argument of the collection? Likewise, the people of the twentieth century and beyond expected to be persuaded by the argument of the collection. Recently, the Veterans Wall of Honor aptly was chosen to be erected in Heritage Park to remind people of the twentieth century that many of the fellow Americans had given up their lives in many wars like World War I, World War II, Korean War, The invasion on Iraq to flush out the foxy Saddam Hussein, the Vietnam War and many other wars throughout American History. For, these nameless heroes to be remembered because they had selflessly gambled their lives in order to maintain the world peace and also to maintain the current economic, business and family welfare of Americans back in the United States. The people of today are persuaded by the argument of the collections that their ancestors were happy farmers. This is evidenced by the garden exhibit as well as the log cabins that had stood the test of time to tell the current generation never to forget the heritage of their past. For, it is logically right to think that what transpired during those times in Henry Country also transpired in other parts of the United States. The 181 year old settler’s cabin exhibit convinced that American history was older than what I had first thought of. Watching this exhibit really made me realize that had I been born at that time period, I would not enjoy the air conditioned library rooms and classrooms of today. Also, I could not find any comfort to live inside those logs that were just tied together. For, the houses of today are made of cement and wood. Thus, I am touched beyond compare of how lucky I am to have lived in the twentieth century. In retrospect, I also admire the courage and the steadfastness of the people who lived in those log cabins. For, they had to endure the hardships from the weather as there were no airconditioners then. In fact, I could just imagine how these log cabins could stand erect for so many years with the constant threats of termites knocking at their doorsteps.
