Question one The Atlantic revolution led to the emergence of nations like North America, Europe, Haiti, and Latin America. These nations shared the same opinions and ideas, and they got European enlighten. Moreover, they abandoned their traditional way of thinking. Instead, they embraced sovereignty as their political ideology (Simon, 15). North America, among the nations that emerged Atlantic revolution, was kind of creating a new world because at the progress in revolution. Political power remained under control of elites who knew how to deal with the ordinary people. Moreover, North America maintained the ownership of the property. In addition to the independence of Britain, there was no significant social change that came with the independence. This was possible because the democracy tendency was already put in place. Most of these nations apart from Haiti had their middle-class benefit from the revolution. This was in terms of their identification, description and comparing their experience with other countries between 1775 and 1825 (Simon, 39). The war played a critical role in the revolution. At the same time, revolution also had an influence on the war. For instance, WWI weakened the economy of most nations that were involved in the war. In this light, a lot of resources were channeled toward the war, for example in buying the weapons and hiring more soldiers, hence a significant effect on the economy. Consequently, the economic effects of the war resulted in the fall of many territories. On the other hand, war also has the positive impact on the revolution since the warring countries exhausted new ways of producing better armaments so that they can win the war. This made them exploit all the technological advancement to improve their methods of attacks (Simon, 57). Question two French revolution was a very influential error of social and political hiccups in France. It lasted for around ten years. That is, between 1789 and 1799. However, French Revolution movement was geared by the liberal and radical ideologies. At the onset of the revolution, the organizers of the Third Estate started taking power which annoyed the Bastille. Subsequently, the royal court got back to Paris due to the declaration of the privileges of the citizens and the march on Versailles. The abolition of feudalism and the political fight between the liberal and the radicals also fuelled the French revolution movement (Simon, 178). Very many French soldiers had fought in the American Revolution; therefore, they had borrowed a few ideas on how to organize and go through their revolution. At the onset of revolution, the French was facing bankruptcy. This prompted King Louis to call for a meeting to address the problem where they raised the taxes and with time the problem was resolved. Question three Capitalism is a social system whereby the factors of production, the factories, technological sectors, the system of transport and others are under the control of a small fraction of individuals (Simon, 23). That is; capitalism is a social system whereby few individuals controls majority of factors of production at the expense of the majority of the population. Capitalism entails the production process left to a larger percentage of the population who are known as the working class and the profits generated from the sales of the product go to the hands of the capitalist. Therefore, the working class suffers in hands the capitalist class. The new era of capitalism is characterized by the introduction of technology as opposed to the old times (Simon, 134). In the earlier centuries, capitalism was solely determined by land ownership that was in the hands of the Lords, who used the lower the working class in yielding the production. Capitalism started in Northern Europe as a result of feudalism that mostly took place there. It ran through the medieval period up to around 16th century. The Feudalist entirely monopolized the market leaving the lower class level with no option but to work for them. Capitalism is economic rule, and the working class has to agree and take part in the production process. It is a reality, and the working class has to change their attitude towards work if they are to better their position in building the nation (Simon, 61). Empire is a political unit with a number of territories or nations that are ruled by one supreme body. However, imperialism is a system of rule whereby a larger territory tries to extend their influence of power by colonizing other countries through the use of means such as democracy, diplomacy, divide and rule, military forces. It is worth noting that imperialism is an ideology whereby powerful nations are believed to act in a manner that is likely to show that they are more powerful than others. However, imperialism is of three types including economic imperialism, political imperialism, and socio-cultural imperialism. Economic imperialism is whereby the imperialist could operate in its country, but it controls the economy of the conquered territory. For instance, it may impose economic sanctions on the territory while at the same time stopping the country from carrying out the trade with other countries (Simon, 78). Again it also has a sole control of the conquered natural resources. For example China-Latin America that was subjected to this type of imperialism. Political imperialism is whereby the country may have its government, but it takes the order from the imperialist. Such nations are not able to make any proper decisions of their own since all directions come from above. For example United States in Dominican Republic. The last type of imperialism is socio-cultural imperialism. This is whereby the imperialist tries to change the cultural values embrace by a given nation and impose theirs to rein. Example is French on African states. Question five The first colonial empires started with the European powers that are the Portugal and Spain. This was brought about by the desire for exploration between these two powers. It was known as the age of exploration. However, the main propelling force behind these explorations was the trade that was fuelled by the idea of capitalism and the emergence of the European Renaissance. Portugal and Spain agreed among themselves to divide the world into 1479, 1493 and 1494. Portugal started by controlling Brazil among other territories while the Spanish Empire pronounced their rule over Netherland, Italy, Germany, France and many other colonies in Africa. Question six Spanish colonization emphasized the employment of conquest military forces that deteriorated the economic growth in the nations that it colonized. This also affected its relationship with Native Americans. On the other hand, American colonies showed rapid growth due to the good rapport they created with their subjects. Spanish missionaries always regarded themselves as holy and hence they wanted everyone to practice Christianity like them. In this regard, Spanish missionaries viewed Mexicans as devils who are to be forced to get converted to Christianity (Simon, 165). On their part, French missionaries showed a lot of respect to their colonies like Native Americans and supported them all round. In terms of governance, Spanish governed Mexico and Peru by Crown appointed governors while, on the French side, the colonies were under the French king. In terms of the economy, Spanish largely depended on trading and it was under control of Spanish board of trade while on other countries colonizers encouraged other activities like farming (Simon, 170). Question seven Manchurian China encounters with western imperialism and modernity. Manchuria is found in East Asia. After the Japanese had invaded Manchuria, it led to rise of Japan in a fortnight. However, later the Soviet invaded it leading to rising fall of Japan and subsequently rise of China again. The little contribution of China in the fight for Manchurian resulted to humble time in development since it was strategically placed such that China could protect its territories. Moreover, the Chinese forces used Manchuria to protect North Korea from American forces. The war over the Manchuria was later resolved diplomatically (Simon, 201). Question 8 After the WWII, Japan acquired some benefits from the Versailles treaty. It also joined the League of Nation. During the Meiji Era, Japan emerged as one of the industrial nations in the world. Again the seizing of the Manchuria when Japan attempted to meddle in China’s affairs. Later Japan became so aggressive just like Italy and Germany in its conquest to become industrialized. As a result, it occupied the whole of Chinese coast and other vital cities. The defeat of Italy and Germany in the WWII led to drawback of Japan in the development (Simon, 189). This made America take advantage over Japan by dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As a result, Japan surrendered hence ending their war will USA. America, from that point forward, occupied Japan but following their determination of growth, Japan showed quick signs of recovery prompting USA to withdraw. After 1947 election, Japan established democratic constitution, and this made it sign a peace treaty that also fuelled its civilization and industrialization (Simon, 197). Question nine The rise of modern Turkey can be traced back to the major reforms made by Ottoman Empire especially at the climax in 19th century. One of the avenues that Ottoman used, after its collapse after the World War 1, was the reorganization of leadership and central institution. He established the relationship with the foreign institution particularly through enhancing social and economic institution. A good rapport created by Ottoman with other nations helped the empire to create a market for technological advancement.
