Faneuil Hall Marketplace Name: Course: Professor: Date: Faneuil Hall market place was established in the 18th century when Peter Faneuil constructed the hall and donated it to the city. Peter Faneuil was considered the richest merchant in the area. The place is deemed to be a home to many entrepreneurs who include-: anglers, businesspersons, and farmers. Most of the country’s eminent narrators are believed to have come from Boston city. The sugar Act of 1764 was for the first time protested here by the colonialists. This led to development of the principle on representation; otherwise they could not pay any tax. Unfortunately, the hall burnt down entirely after nineteen years from its establishment. The hall was then reconstructed basing on the original design. Each floor of the building housed different kinds of businesses and conferences; the first floor was reserved as the market place while the second floor had a gathering hall, which was mainly utilized by the colonialists during their protest. It is from the many meetings, which the hall acquired a nickname called “cradle of liberty”. The growing population and demand for space in the market place in the early nineteenth century proved that Faneuil Hall was not able to accommodate them(Fagundes, & Grant, 2003, p50). One of the prominent architects in Massachusetts, Charles Bulfinch worked hard in the expansion of the building, where a third floor was added. The hall ceased to be used for holding town meetings in 1822, when Boston town was transformed into a city, although it remained a famous and most prestigious conference hall in the region. The Faneuil Hall market place was a one stop where people got all they wanted at once. It is an entertainment place for magicians, orators, musicians and a scenic attraction for both local and international tourists, who walked around observing the beautiful buildings and the people. Some of the recognized retailers countrywide, several diverse shops and hotels, are found here (Gratz, & Mintz, 2000, p222). The food being served in the hotels, which include alcohol and fish, depict customs and traditions of the residents. Many of those who visit the place love to be associated with them. They also admire the culture; they learn customs and incorporate them into their daily lives by buying clothes and ornaments manufactured in the city. Faneuil Hall marketplace has been known throughout the globe because of its operations. The hall has several offices. This includes-: consultancy office and educational offices. Many professionals have taken up some offices so that they can easily meet clients and create networks. Health facilities, law firms, and colleges are found here. People prefer the destination because they get satisfied from the services they receive (Gratz, & Mintz, 2000, p222). Orators and speakers get the chance to talk to many people; therefore, selling their ideas to the public without having to struggle because of the large population of people within the area. The residents of Boston attach entertainment with high value. The number of musical concerts organized on a weekly basis within Boston town is enhanced by the fact that Faneuil Hall has the best of the clubs and restaurants. There are several clubs that people can choose their favorites from; they are flexible and all groups of individuals are catered for. Musicians get the chance to be famous and sell their talents through such events, which are known to attract thousands of people from all over. Most of the international musicians take their shows to Boston because it has proved to be a destination to many persons (Ford Foundation, 2003, p6). Entertainment activities are loved by those who frequent here despite the diversity in race, culture, gender and ethnicity. The amount of revenue collected from tickets sold for entertainment in the city has improved the living standards and significantly influenced the lifestyles of the entertainers. Industrialization and the new technology have led to music and events being advertised online. Anybody around the world who can access the internet can know what is going on in Boston city; the events have recorded high turnout. Signature events are also held in Boston city, which includes-: the annual tree lighting and sporting activities. Athletics is one of the common sporting activities commonly held in Boston; it attracts athletes from all over the world. Relatives and funs of the athletes and musicians travel to Boston not only to watch and give moral support to their stars but also to enjoy the place. It is becoming a holiday destination to many tourists because they find pleasure from what they see and learn from the residents (Gratz, & Mintz, 2000, p222). Well-established companies expanded their businesses out of the city and the rural areas of Boston; this was an economic growth to the country. Political perception has changed since the time of protests by the colonialists because the conference hall acts as a reminder. Racism and ethnicity reduced highly because the Faneuil Hall acted as a unifying factor to many people (Ashworth & Tunbridge, 2000, p227). People from different parts of the world bought products from the market place; therefore, individuals have learned to appreciate others and associate with them. Frequent interaction with foreigners led to acquisition and assimilation of new cultures. Interracial marriages have been witnessed for several years, which have resulted into children who have no racial or ethnic boundaries (Ashworth & Tunbridge, 2000, p226). Social, economic and political attributes in the society have been influenced. New market and business principles were developed and implemented so that the businesspersons carried out their activities in accordance with the enacted laws (Ford Foundation, 2003, p5). Environmental conservation has been upheld since persons ensure that they uphold a high level of cleanliness. This also includes upholding the scenic beauty with more trees and flowers being planted.
