This is referred to as organizational behaviour and it incorporates the study of how individuals act in organizations, its aim being to build good linkages by attaining human objectives, social objectives and organization objectives. Organizational behaviour also encompasses others fields such as psychology, sociology, management and communication. It is apparent that leadership is a significant element in organization behaviour which ensures that an organization attains its set goals. Good leadership orients the personnel towards better participation and performance. In the contemporary society, the old leadership model is out of date and as a result, in order to ensure that organizations succeeds in the current times of rapid change, individuals at all levels must show leadership tactics and perform their best in their levels. This paper seeks to discuss the new leadership models. In particular the paper will focus on the leader who had no title by Robin Sharma. In his book, Sharma emphasis the notion that great success can only be achieved with great leadership and that anyone can lead even without a title as long as they have the determination to do so. We will focus on various key concepts as explained by Robin Sharma in order to better understand his new leadership models. About the author and the book Robin Sharma has been one of the widely sought after authors by many readers for more than 15 years. He writes on leadership and individual success. With the blockbusters such as the Monk who helped in the sale of his Ferrari and Greatness Guide, Robin has been softly sharing an exclusive success principle with his esteemed clients and this has seen him to be one of the highly respected advisers on leadership and success coaches in the universe. Currently he is featured in a success magazine and in a review of 22,000 business persons he was rated a top 5 leadership expert worldwide. In his new book, the leader who had no title, Robin for the first time, makes his exclusive process available to everyone. The book is a modern story on real success in life and business and is now an international bestseller. Most people get into business with the mentality that they have to find their way to the top of the company, have the title of the position they seek and hence they can become leaders but this is not right according to Robin. The game-changing book helps one take his working life and personal world to a new level of excellence by showing you how to perform at ones absolute peak (Hopkin par. 1) Key aspects In this book, Robin tries to point out that leadership in the present profoundly turbulent world is no longer a CEO, heads of state and the highly esteemed people in the society affair but anyone has an opportunity and responsibility to portray their leadership skills in their daily actions. Robin explains the story of Blake; a disgruntled office employee offered a life changing opportunity to spend a day studying the lessons portrayed by a certain mysterious group consisting of teachers to learn the secret behind their immeasurable success both in work and life. He also introduces four inspirational teachers to the readers who include: a maid who has proven that every job can be successful if done with a deep great passion; a surfer who exhibits the importance of standing tall during the riskiest encounters in stormy times; the story of a former CEO who describes the value of maintaining a great and healthy working relationship for continuous positive results and finally the shoe shiner who demonstrates that success and excellence begins from within a person who has determination to help cultivate it. Each of these characters offers a lesson to portray that the most influential leadership is culminated by ambition and determination that comes from within and that all business dealings are possible when these skills are well demonstrated. Principles learnt from the leader who had no title From this book you learn on how to produce remarkable results by awakening ones inner leadership skills and the professional and individual life that one has always wished for. Most importantly one discovers; that a title is not a must for one to be a leader since both business and personal successes are things that are determinedly created. Robin explains that for success to be achieved one has to be idealistically persistent and enthusiastically courageous. This way he believes one will be able to work with people and influence them like a superstar regardless of his/her position (Hopkin, par. 3). Challenging times inspire great leaders. Through the surfer who proves the importance of rising to challenging times, Robin explains that turbulent times in life and business always offer us an opportunity to learn as well as transform ourselves for the better. It is evident from this character that the challenges and problems one encounter at all levels are meant to strengthen you (Hopkin, par. 3). The stronger and deeper ones working relationship, the stronger is ones leadership. Robin advises that one needs to leave the people he interacts with every day in a better and engaging position than you found them regardless of their position. He says that the time one spends in forming and maintaining deep and healthy relationship always has remarkable results down the road to his business and personal world (Hopkin, par. 3). That to be an exclusive leader one needs to be a great person with strong interpersonal skills. Robin explains that one can become a great and extraordinary performer at all levels in business and personal life by strengthening and training ones inner leader and believing in one self. He believes that the key to this is one knowing how to be his/her own leader. In our world, success is defined by the things one has at hand and not what one has become. This explains that the more consciousness and self-awareness one develops, the more the opportunities one has of growing professionally and help others (Hopkin, par. 3). You cannot lead in fear Sharma believes that individuals cannot lead in fear. He ascertains that fear damages more bright lives than individuals can imagine. To him, courage is a prerequisite to good leadership. Every person, by virtue of their very human nature, have the capacity to lead without title and accomplishes great things which lifts up all individuals around us by our model of likelihood. Sharma however puts forth that, the inner voice of fear in our minds always prevents individuals from playing big and offering that which they can irrespective of their position (Sharma, par. 1). Sharma gives an example with his life which indicates that, individuals can conquer fear and become great people. This happened while he was in New Zealand, he had the chance to go heli-skiing whereby individuals are dropped off by a helicopter at a mountain top and they ski down. Sharma says that this is a challenging, difficult but an exciting experience which is full of rich teachings and it requires courage to succeed. To ensure that, individuals attain these, Sharma shares four major insights which will help persons achieve the same. According to him, these lessons are essential for growth and can be applied both in business and life. You do not grow in normal By this, Sharma means that, if individuals stay within their own comfort zone, they cannot grow. As an alternative, every person should make bigger, and face fear face-to-face by reaching their limits. With this, he says that persons will discover that their limits will automatically grow (Sharma, par. 4). Relating this to our daily lives, individuals who do not try to discover news things, be it in their profession or their life never grows. This means that, we have to attempt to do that, which we do not know irrespective of the obstacles ahead and as a result, we will turn out to be great people with enough confidence and motivation to move forward. You do not know until you try As put forth by Sharma, it is true that individuals cannot know unless they try. He relates this with the heli-skiing and emphasizes that, if he had not tried or taken the chance to participate, presently, he could not be familiar with the challenges, and the opportunities which come with it. He took his chances and as a result, he was able to conquer his fear. Sharma makes certain that leaders without a title are capable of recognizing good chances, that’s why he seized the opportunity to heli-ski. This, according to him made him grow as a heli-skier and at the same time, he was able to add another experience to his life which will shape all that he undertakes. Comparing this to leadership, Sharma puts forth that individuals should try to work out things outside the box, try to explore that which they do not know and at the end of it all they will emerge as great people who not only have the knowledge that is required but knowledge to keep them going in their daily lives (Sharma, par. 5). It is apparent that in order to find freedom, individuals must go beyond their fears. On the other side of your fears, you will find your confidence Sharma makes certain that, by taking chances and doing that which we are afraid to do just because it is far beyond our comfort zone, individuals can conquer their fears and grow in confidence. He relates this to his amplified confidence as a skier which he was able to achieve as a result of heli-skiing. According to Sharma, a new peak will transform in to boosted confidence both as a human being and as an entrepreneur (Sharma, par. 6). Life is short, so get in the game It is apparent that, a good rich life is that which is made up of various rich adventures. Sharma advices individuals to make maximum use of all the chances they get in their day to day life. This as a result will expose them to many different adventures which will give them an opportunity to learn more. It is true that, life is short and no one knows about tomorrow, every person should get in the game and keep leading without a title (Sharma, par. 7). Sharma’s explanation of “you cannot lead in fear” can be related to a recent movie called “you get life only once”. This movie was released in India and it indicates that, for an individual to overcome his or her fears, one has to know them and face them. Facing such fears enables a person both to overcome them and possess a new motivation and confidence to execute more. The lessons learn from this is that, entrepreneurs should have that motivation and confidence which they obtain from conquering their obstacles. These four concepts explained by Sharma can be experienced in this movie, which is in fact inspiring. Greatness is an interior event In his book, Sharma puts forth that in order for individuals to become great leaders, they must first become great people and lead themselves. This as a result enables a person to lead others efficiently at the same time, influencing those around them with the powerful example which they set. In order to achieve this, it is essential to start with a community which celebrates externals, remembering that greatness is an internal event with external outcomes. Once individuals awaken their inner leader, they are guaranteed of attaining worldly success. Conclusion In spite of what individuals do within their organizations, or in their present life, it is extremely important to remember that they have the capacity to show leadership, and emerge great in all that they do. According to Sharma, any one can become a leader. It does not necessitate an individual to go up a company’s ladder in order to become a leader. All that is required is to conquer one’s fears and try to do that which they do the unknown. Through this, such person’s will be able to obtain the confidence and motivation required to move on.
