Key learning points 02 – 03 Poor coordination among the levels of the company is a disadvantage of the conservative system that was used. Group 2 Poor coordination is a key learning point because it helps underscore the fact that conservative systems refuse change. They refuse change even when change can help streamline operations in different levels of the company (Lewis 45). 2. Change improves the skills of individuals, and improves the qualities of the product produced. Group 2 This is an important learning point because it captures the positive effects of change. Change revitalizes skills of personnel and varies the way goods are produced (Lewis 45). 3. Change transition is the gradual movement from one management plan to another. Group 2 It is important to learn that change transition is gradual because it involves an overhaul of the whole management plan. This understanding can help persons be patient with the change process (Lewis 46). 02 – 10 1. Neutral zone can be an advantage because people can experiment and train to become better. Group 4 This learning point is crucial because it can help change the way people look at neutral zone negatively. An important stage can help individuals launch into a new stage having a better understanding of themselves and their direction (Lewis 46). 2. Escaping the neutral zone can be difficult but with determination and support from others, it can be achieved. Group 4 It is important to learn that determination makes individuals to aspire for a better performance in the next stage. Support from others reassures people that they are not alone in the current circumstance and gives them strength to move on (Lewis 47). 3. People become anxious, confused, distracted, frustrated, mad, tend to communicate less in Neutral zone. Group 4 This is a key learning point because the neutral zone acts as a redefining moment in the life of an individual. This understanding can an individual learn that difficulties are temporary and that they will go away once he or she succeeds out of this zone (Lewis 47). 02 – 17 1. A good leader makes a group more effective This is an important learning point because it underscores effectiveness as an indicator of good leadership. This draws from the role of a leader in coordinating the activities of the team and providing direction (Lewis 48). 2. Be ready for change at all times. It is important to learn to expect change at all times because change is inevitable. Being ready for change makes an individual to find it easy adjusting to the new circumstances (Lewis 48). 3. Fairness / honesty with your employees will create a trusting environment which will lead to success It is crucial to learn that fairness and honesty creates a trusting environment and leads to success because it wins the support of the team towards a leader’s plans. This way, the leader does not strain mobilizing group members for action (Lewis 49). 02 – 24 1. “If you love what you’re doing, you won’t work a day in your life” in the performing stage employees should enjoy what they are doing. Group 10 This is a critical learning point because enjoying what one does makes them to surpass the organization’s mandate. It also gives him or her morale to work even if the task is routine (Lewis 50). 2. Don’t overact to resistance and opposition. People are responding to the change, not to you. Group 10 Learning not to overact to resistance and opposition is important because it help to remain objective. This way, a change leader gets time to plan how to counter the resistance in a way that does not scare away the support of the team (Lewis 51). 3. Low trust means the transition will not be very successful. Group 10 It is important to learn that low trust makes individuals fear for the welfare and this makes them not embrace the change thus disrupting the success of the transition. The change leader needs to convince the team that their welfare is his or her concern (Lewis 52). 03 – 03 Group 13 1. Successful large-scale change consists of budgets & plans. This is a key learning point because change leaders need to understand that change needs resources that are scarce. Budgets and plans help allocate these scare resources (Lewis 52). 2. Painting Pictures of the Future consider seeing, feeling and, change This is important because successful change is led by a vision in order to achieve the desired goal. It takes into account the feelings of the members of the team (Lewis 53). 3. Strategic plans motivate few…Compelling vision can appeal to the heart and motivate anyone There is need for change leaders to persuade the team of the efficacy of the intended change plan inviting their participation in the change process. A compelling vision implores people to be proactive in realizing the goal of the change process (Lewis 54). 03 – 10 Group 16 1. Wins provide feedback to change leaders about the validity of their visions and strategies. A win in the change process shows that the vision and strategies of a change leader were reliable. This is encouraging to change leaders (Lewis 55). 2. Wins build faith in the effort, attracting those who are not yet actively helping Winning in a change process makes individuals gain confidence. It serves as evidence of good things to those who had not embraced the change thus making them to join in the process (Lewis 55). 3. Wins give those working hard to achieve a vision a pat on the back, an emotional uplift. A win in the change process gives the change team optimism and happiness. As such, wins are rewarding (Lewis 56). 04 – 07 Team2 Kayla 1-Transitioning; getting people to let go of the past Transitioning helps people make peace with a previous stage and embrace a new one. This facilitates change (Lewis 56). 2. Engage organization; communicate and motivate the employees and being a support system for them Communication helps exchange ideas about different aspects of the organization. Motivating and supporting employees makes feel treasured and appreciated (Lewis 57). 3. It is important to have clear and concise plans after knowing exactly what scenario have to faced with Planning helps decide on the most appropriate actions that can help work out a scenario. It helps to avoid getting mixed up in the process (Lewis 57). 04 – 14 Team 10 1. The greatest learning point in the change simulation is the use of an effective plan. Effective planning helps in mobilizing and budgeting for the resources needed in implementing the change. It also helps anticipate difficulties and devise ways of surmounting them (Lewis 58). 2. Groups have to pay closer attention to what stage they are in and they should not go ahead of themselves This underscores the need for monitoring and evaluating the change. This way, groups are able to ascertain their progress (Lewis 58). 3. A strong guideline is key if you are going to be successful in business Guidelines spell out how things are done in a given business. A clear guideline provides clarity of direction that facilitates success (Lewis 58). 04 – 21 1. Lead and coordinate the change process Change process needs leadership and coordination in order to remain harmonious and consistent. Leadership and coordination ensures that efforts remain interconnected in order to realize the goals of the change process (Lewis 59). 2. Stakeholder mapping align the right people to the right position Mapping helps identify the key participants in the change process and their contributions. This way, change leaders are able to allocate roles and responsibilities (Lewis 60). 3. Stakeholder mapping Identify resistance and support across the organization Potential resistance and support can best be identified through clear consideration of the stakeholders. This helps devise ways of confronting the resistance and of soliciting the support (Lewis 61). 02 – 28 1. The more time the team has to prepare for the change, the better the outcome will be since any changes made will affect employees’ moral, indefinitely (Lewis 62). Extensive planning gives change leaders time to consider the resources needed for change, time it will take to finish and the negative and positive effects of change. This makes the change effective and comprehensive (Lewis 63). 2. The higher the position of the person being let go, the more careful the change agents need to be for the outcome. Changing high-ranking persons threatens their influence and the welfare of those who benefit from it. As such, change agents need to be prepared for the difficulty that will result from challenging this status quo (Lewis 64). 3. With careful planning and perfect timing, organizations can successfully complete change tasks and steer the company to the right path to success. Careful planning helps anticipate and prepare for all requirements involved in the change process. Perfect timing helps initiate the change when the target group is most prepared to receive it (Lewis 65). The most important learning point is planning. This is because without planning, change cannot take off and if it does, it will be disharmonious. The vision and desired goals of a change process are envisaged in the planning stage.
