Tech-Rich Riverside What is the "Digital Divide"? Use your own words. Answer: Digital divide is variation in access and use of information and communication technologies between residents of different geographic areas. Digital divide varies based on socio-economic levels, education levels and demographic levels. Digital divide can exist within a particular country in that residents of different geographic areas within a country can be able to access and use information and communication technologies differently.

2-How has the "Wireless Riverside" project helped to decrease the Digital Divide among Riverside residents?Answer:The project has enabled low income households to access the internet free by using their refurbished computers. Local business such as restraints and shopping stores has also gained from the free wireless project in that the local residents use the internet in these areas as they are offered the services they need.3-What is the Digital Inclusion program, and how has it helped Riverside residents?

Answer:Digital Inclusion program is a program started by Riverside with the aiming low-income residents to be taught computer skills and providing them with refurbished computers at no cost.The Digital Inclusion program played a vital role in achieving the goals of Project BRIDGE. The Project BRIDGE program provided the Digital Inclusion program with staff members who are hired to rebuild the used computers donated from the public, schools and business. Riverside residents especially youths benefited from the program by acquiring employment all over the city.

4-How has the "SmartRiverside" program helped to rejuvenate the city? Discuss the approach and its impacts.Answer:“SmartRiverside” program was meant to revive the city by establishing environment conducive for Technology Companies to invest. The initiatives include creation of a free Wi-Fi throughout the city and carrying out digital literacy activities. The program achieved this by fostering use and innovation of technology. The creation of free wireless internet access throughout the city, ensuring technology literacy and conducting digital inclusion activities are part of the achievements of the “SmartRiverside” program.

The impacts of the program was that low income Riverside residents improved their computer literacy and also got free Wi-Fi with 786 Kbps internet access owned by Riverside.
