Query Enhancement and Query Recommendations In the session of the CKIM conference, several discussions are undertaken on the main theme of authenticity of the information stored in the social media websites. There has been a concern regarding the authenticity of information, fundamentally due to the heterogeneous nature of writers and biasness of information among others. Furthermore, there has been concern for the infringement of the reputation of certain individuals or groups through offensive information. Concerns have also been identified with regards to the sentiments of the users, causing bias to the information. In this context, steps are to be undertaken to control duplicity of information by ensuring that information is disseminated based on hierarchy level. The session also contains certain models to improve the quality and authenticity of micro blogs. However, in this context, certain non-overlapping concepts have also been laid down. Notably, these concepts neither go parallel to the core theme nor against the same. Overview The assignment is based upon the theme of social media networks possessing ambiguous information. Ambiguous information may question about the quality and the authenticity of the contents of those social media networking sites. In the assignment, it is comprehensively stated that there are several heterogeneous information that confuse the readers. The writers of the contents are identified to be from wide demographic variety and hence, may interpret thoughts in different manner. This is extensively identified in case of the political blogs, where individuals having biased opinion in relation to certain political parties may write contents that are completely in favor of that party. This kind of biasness is also observed when individuals have certain sentiments regarding a topic. Furthermore, deliberate offensive update from several individual may also lead to the creation of information that would be distasteful for the masses (Huang et al., 2012). Additionally, there are certain disagreements of theme discussed throughout the session in relation to knowledge management, knowledge management and information retrieval. In this context, diversified comments are identified about information retrieval that provides a holistic view to readers in relation to social media networks. Moreover, it is upon the logical understanding of the readers that would help in interpreting actual information. Furthermore, steps are also undertaken to build information based upon the authenticity of the writers. In this context, several attempts have been undertaken to prohibit the duplicity of information (Zheng et al., 2012). Common themes The common theme of the given assignment is the quality or the authenticity of the information retrieved from the social media networks in the internet. The information obtained from the social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Micro Blogs among others are heterogeneous in nature. This is because through these social media networks, any individual can update any post that may be contradictory to the information posted by other individuals. The heterogeneous nature of social media networking sites deviate the core theme of the topic as well. The comments that are updated by the users are of a very wide diversified social and economic class. They are different demographically, wherein the site offers a better opportunity to people of different ages to share their perceptions through updates on a topic. It is in this context that content in the social media networks is provided with feedbacks from geographically different locations. These people have different cultures and religions. As a result of the diversification of those people in the social media networks, they have different perceptions to a content or subject. Thus, the comments seen in the topic may be of a very wide range, which often gets deviated from the core theme. For instance, the comments on the moral and ethical issues with regards to the religion of a community may bring up different perceptions of the wide range of people. This may further lead to an inappropriate consensus with regards to moral and ethical issues. Furthermore, the offensive tweets that are deliberately updated by account holders may also give rise to objectionable perceptions. The social media networking sites are available to every individual in this world. The users are heterogeneous in nature and also the world has no lack of people with malicious intentions. For instance, there are some users having personal differences with other individuals. Those users may use the social media networking sites and may infringe the reputation of the other by commenting with offensive updates. Moreover, for instance, an individual surfing a particular blog or media source to get information related to political affairs. Correspondingly, if the blog or the media source is biased on a particular political party, then the user is likely to get all the information about the political party in favor of them. This gives a biased perception of the viewer to the related political party. This is also observable with regards to the cases of religious perceptions, perceptions with regards to moral and ethical issues, perceptions to the economic affairs, credibility of an individual in sports, movies, music, and many more. Moreover, people who have their sentiments towards a topic are very likely to provide information that is completely biased, which may affect the sentiments of the user to a large extent. In this context, a reader may get distracted and possesses wrong notions regarding a topic (Cai & Zhang, 2012; Huang et al., 2012; Zheng et al., 2012). Illustratively, if a voting poll is executed through the likes of social media networking sites for any particular game, voters may get biased on the basis of the common features they share with the celebrity figure and therefore, lack adequate reward and encouragement to the skilled person. This is fundamentally because the voters attracted through social sites are mostly driven by their emotional verdicts in such cases, rather than emphasizing rationality while depicting their selections. Discordant themes The three papers are also identified to disagree with certain issues relating to inferior quality or authenticity of the information posted in several social media networking sites. In this context, the diversified comments on any of the social media networking sites may question on the authenticity of the information. The reader of the comments may possess irrelevant knowledge based on the contradictory comments. However, for such cases, steps are taken to ensure that the comments are ranked on the basis of hierarchy or the status of an individual. The hierarchy level is such that the journals and the relevant official personals among others are offered with higher weight-age, while the comments of the common individuals are given lesser importance. The introduction of such a hierarchy level in the comments or feedbacks would benefit the viewers to gain the authentic fact with regards to the content of discussion. This would also enable the viewers to have a comprehensive understanding to the subject without being deviated from the core theme of the same. Moreover, a multi-session research allows users or viewers to have a wide range of information that may raise confusion at large. However, this multisession research aids users in understanding a topic appropriately. The users based on their logical understandings and providing same information at regular instances through comments may depict correct information. Moreover, the detection of the duplicate information by the users is one of the decisive steps to authenticate the contents of a topic. The detection of the duplicate information through the social media networks would motivate the writers. This would also lead to the enhancement of the credibility of the writers. While on one hand the readers would not be bored of the same contents in the repeated posts, on the other hand, it will also encourage the freshness of the contents of the written words of the writer of social media networking sites. Notably, in the session there are some discussions that revealed some of the models that would enable the proper micro blog retrieval process. These models would improve the quality of information of the micro blog sites, allowing easy access to the readers to the information that are stored in the particular account (Cai & Zhang, 2012; Huang et al., 2012; Zheng et al., 2012). Non-overlapping Concepts There are also various non-overlapping concepts that are discussed in the session. These are neither in favor of the topic nor against the same. One of them is the maximization of the variance of the information via noise injection leads to active learning (Huang et al., 2012; Zheng et al., 2012). Moreover, the development of the index based structure is a process of improving query efficiency. The index based structure in a context would definitely improve the quality of query efficiency. The readers of a context would definitely get benefitted through the process. This is because the readers would consume lesser time in the search of the contents. However, the discussion in this context is irrelevant to the main concept of the essay. The concept neither goes parallel to the main theme of the essay nor does it go against the same. Another such non-overlapping concept that has arisen in the session is the nature of the advertisement, as the nature of the advertisement is onto a debate in the session where some points are in favor of the advertisements to be competing, while on the other hand, some points are in favor of the advertisements to be collaborative in nature. The discussion is very helpful, but unfortunately it became a non overlapping concept in the session (Cai & Zhang, 2012). Conclusion In the modern era of information technology, there has been extensive use of social media networks to communicate information. However, there have also been the questions regarding the authenticity of the information that are transmitted through these media technologies. Nevertheless, steps are also been taken to uplift the authenticity of information. However, it is the logical understanding of the common individual that would enable them to pick the correct information without any biasness. References Cai, W., & Zhang, Y. (2012).
