The challenges that the techniques address regard the preservation of privacy without compromising the experience of users in a data-sharing platform. Some of the techniques explored include anonymization-based, cryptographic-based, and perturbation-based techniques, are having their strengths and challenges. The result of the discussion shows that the techniques used depend on the nature of data presented in a database for different users to mine data. The techniques propose different ways to maneuver through the challenges for enhanced data mining.

Introduction

The past decades have witnessed the increasing interest in developing data mining techniques amid conflicting privacy assurances. The current global economy heavily relies on the processing of electronic data for utilization in different sectors of the economy. Hence, the aggravated security and privacy concerns. The sensitivity of data requires urgent reproaches to address the sensitive privacy issues and threats to private and public information. To curb the emergent security threat in sharing of private information, various techniques suffice, which warrant informed critiquing. The motivation is the daunting privacy constraints in the preservation and utilization of data.

The decision tree approach is among the most commonly used anonymization method. Technology experts consider anonymization-based techniques as the most crucial in the privacy preservation of confidential data. Hence, the various methods developed to address different needs of privacy preservation in the data mining processes. The motive is to enhance the effectiveness of utilizing shared but private data like those in the health care institutions and in the sharing of electronic health records.

Electronic Health Records

The use of EHRs is a trend that is gaining popularity in the US due to its perceived benefits in major hospitals. Some of the benefits associated with EHRs are the ability to open other innovation avenues and cost-saving measures. This essay reviews the application of EHRs in John Hopkins Hospital in order to assess the benefits of the system. The short essay also recounts the benefit to the wider American society.
