He also knew every prime number up to 7,057. One night, Christopher saw his neighbor’s dog, Wellington, stabbed with a fork lying. He pulled the fork out of the dog and started cradling the dog only for the owner of the dog to accuse him of stabbing the dog to death. After spending a night in jail, he decided to find out who the killer of the dog was, despite his father’s order, not to purse. Christopher’s investigation became a challenge between his parents thereby leading to the dissolution of the marriage between his parents (Hariett 1).

Siobhan, a social worker at his school, inspired Christopher to write a book that depicts the investigation he embarked on regarding dog’s murder. Christopher loved mathematics and science, and he took this issue of investigation of the dog’s murder as a puzzle, which he was supposed to tackle by working out the answer. Christopher had difficulties in translating what other people expressed with their body language. He stated that he was not able to lie because it was complicated for him to imagine all the things that were not true.

He also found that it was hard to discover when people were lying. He could react unusually harsh any time he discovered that the people he trusted had deceived him (McInerney 1). Despite all these, he was persistent and went around to all the neighbors trying to find out whether anybody knew anything about the dog’s murder. Both Mrs. Shears and his father did not appreciate his actions, and so his father warned him to stop going around the neighborhood investigating the dog’s murder. He continued investigating despite promising his father that he will not go on with the investigation.

He talked to one of his neighbors, Mrs. Alexander and asked her more about Mrs. Shears, who was the owner of the dog, and her husband, Mr. Shear, who had left her. He asked Mrs. Alexander if she thought that Mr. Shears was involved in the murder. As a reply, Mrs. Alexander revealed that Mr. Shears and Christopher’s mother had affair 2 years before she died (O'Connor 1). His father, Mr. Ed, discovered about the book Christopher was writing. He grabbed Christopher, shouted at him and threw the book.

While the father was at work, Christopher started looking for the book among his father’s belongings when he stumbled into letters addressed to him from his supposedly dead mother from an address in London, they were written a year and a half after she had died. On discovering that his father had deceived him about his mother’s death, Christopher felt sick and lay on the bed. His father came back and realized Christopher had discovered the truth about his mother. He apologized, telling him that his intention was only to protect him, and there was no reason to have doubts.

He then revealed to Christopher that he was the one who killed the dog. His father said that he deceived him because after his mother had left he had a relationship with Mrs. Shears, and when they had a confrontation and it resulted in the dog attacking him (McInerney 1). Christopher was shocked by the news that his father was the murderer, and hence he slipped out of the house with his pet rat and a Swiss army knife while his father was asleep. He embarked on, a journey to find his mother in London, but the police were informed that Christopher had run
