The overall management intention becomes the realization of a non-finanicail goal. This scenario exists in community organizations, which focus on the society’s welfare rather than profitability. This will necessitate changes in management procedures and leadership in such an organization. Despite the changes in the objectives, most of the managerial functionality will apply. This is because any organization seeks to achieve reduced costs, proper staffing, organization, apposite controlling and necessary directing.

Management changes depend on the organization. As such, smaller entities adopt managerial hierarchy that will suit their operations, structure and strategic aspirations. This report will make a comparison of management with relation to the entity’s size and community orientation. Therefore, the report will analyze the relevance of the existing managerial theory in relation to the demand of the managerial setting (Vallabhaneni 2008, p. 12). Body Differences between community and other organization Community organizations are common entities in most countries.

These organizations focus on the realization of certain objectives. These organizations primarily undertake charitable functions. The sole objective is to assist the community. The objectives of these entities represent a shift from most organization, which are profit oriented. The charitable tasks undertaken by such organizations include construction of houses that are affordable to ordinary citizens. They also finance the treatment of ailments that are expensive to treat. These functions change the managerial environment since the sole objective of community organizations is to maximize its revenues and expend on charitable undertakings (Kahn 2010).

Though such a business does not seek to maximize its profitability, it endeavours to minimize its costs like other profit-motivated entities. Minimization of cost will enable the entity channel additional funds towards the realization of its objective. In the medium sized entities, management is tailored to suit the organization. Medium sized organization adapt to the business environment owing to the enormous power of the dominant entities. Additionally, such entities are flexible, a characteristic that the dominant entities lack.

This allows them to alter their operations and structure in response to the developments in the sector. Therefore, such organizations have a flexible management philosophy that allow for swift adjustments. The often changes also influence management practice. The business setting changes rapidly. Subsequently, entities have to change rapidly. Any entity that sticks to an obsolete management practise faces countless challenges. Currently, the factors, which drive managerial practise, include transformations in the business surrounding organization size and objectives (Gray & Salter 2004).

Managerial skills In light of the above details, a manager should posses certain skills, which enable him/her guide the organization in a suitable direction. The manager must consider the objectives of the entity, its size and developments in the industry. The skills that a manager in the community-oriented organization requires include technical, interpersonal, political and conceptual skills. Despite having the above skills, the manager should also have the appropriate motives. Having the right motives will ensure that the manager focuses on the community welfare constantly.
